greetings...can you recommend a low-powered cpu/motherboard combo for web server (i.e. next gen d525mw)?

Hi:

Putting together a low-powered web server for development purposes that I'd like to leave on 24/7. Was interested in the D525MW cpu/motherboard system, but seems like it's end-of-life and rather difficult to purchase new. Can anyone suggest a "next generation" combo that will deliver similar specs and be more current and, therefore, easier to order at roughly the same price?

Thanks,

Intel RST in dual boot

$

I have an Intel D945GNT system board with Intel cpu and four SATA drives attached configured under Intel Matrix Storage Manage/Rapid Storage Technology as two RAID 1 pairs running under Windows XP Pro 32 bit.

The Intel RST was installed using the F6 floppy method when installing Windows XP.

Recently, I have repartitioned the system disc to create a a dual-boot environment with the addition of a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit partition.

I then installed Windows 7 without using the F6 floppy installation method and this seemed to go well with the RAID system apparently working.

However, I rather miss the Windows Intel RST interface that I had under Windows XP as this isn't currently present when booting from the in the Windows 7 partition.

What is the best way to install this interface?

I have been looking at the latest downloads and note that Intel RST 13.2.4.1000 is listed as the latest and suitable for Windows 7 - should I try installing this using the SetupRST.exe associated with that download as a means of installing the Windows RST interface? And, if I do, will it helpfully update the current RST without destabilising operations under the Windows XP partition?

Any comments would be appreciated.

DG41TY motherboard

I have an INTEL DG41TY motherboard. I tried booting up using the USB flash drive. All I get is the cursor on the upper left corner of the screen blinking. I know the USB flash drive is working because it works on other systems. The BIOS on this motherboard is version 45. Set the BIOS to boot on USB first, enable USB boot first. BIOS sees the flash drive but still will not boot. Used the F10 (boot menu) selected the flash drive, still same problem. Need help.

Event Viewer: irstrtsv error: Unable to read LBA sector via passthru

I have a DZ77GA-70k MB running Win7-64 and RST Raid-1.

I was troubleshooting another problem and I see this irstrtsv error in the Event Viewer.

"Error: Unable to read LBA sector via passthru. : The request is not supported."

<See attached screen shot of the Event Viewer>

The first 6 irstrtsv errors after system startup are:

"Error: Unable to read LBA sector directly. : The system cannot find the file specified."

Then the balance of the errors have the passthru reference.

My system has been running for over a year (since Jan2013) and this error started on Jan.10, 2014 of this year.

I do not see a performance issue due to the error and the problem I was troubleshooting deals with Windows Backup: VSS, SPP errors when the backup fails to complete.

This irstrtsv error occurs when the system starts, there is a cluster of 6 errors in a few seconds, then repeats every 5 minutes with another cluster of 6 irstrtsv errors and continues until I shut it down.

A couple of days ago I upgraded the RST to the latest driver 12.8.0.1016 and that did not solve the problem.

I don't remember changing the system BIOS or RST configuration or loading any application in January or in or around 1/10/2014.

Any thoughts.

Thanks,

Rod...

Problem with HDMI audio using intel hd 4600 graphics

Hello,

I've got a huge problem regarding my hdmi audio in my intel dq87pg board. The setup is the following:

HTPC  -> Displayport to HDMI Adapter -> Onkyo AV Receiver -> TV

OS is Windows 8.1, Graphic drivers etc. are the latest.

if the TV and the AV Receiver is on when I start the HTPC, everything works fine. But if it is switched off while booting, the computer does not find any hdmi audio device when the receiver is turned on later. The same happens when av receiver is on during boot and the sound works and I restart the AV reveiver or replug the cable in between.

I've tried nearly everything, different drivers, reinstall windows etc, but nothing helps. Does anyone have a solution?

Many regards

Florian

I would like to rebuild my Raid 1 array using 3TB HDD.

Is this supported by RST without having to use UEFI?

Advise appreciated.

Intel Extreme Tuning Utility - Computer will not start

Hello,

I just attempted to use the auto-tune setting to overclock my computer to "slightly above" the default settings and after about thirty minutes or operation the computer shut down and will not restart for more than 30 seconds before shutting down again.  I have to hit the power button to get it to turn on, it had gone thru several series' of restarts during the auto tune process, while it was running. there is a black screen with a cursor on it during its attempt to start up but it just ends up shutting down again.  I'm hoping I did not make any mistakes, I simply chose auto-tune to avoid any errors. I believe it was Intel Extreme Tuning Utility 2.1, I cannot find out now since the computer will not operate.

DH61AG BIOS update disaster.

Folks,

I am...well, was, a very happy DH61AG user.  I've got three of them here, and had no problems at all.  Until this evening.

Decided I was going to upgrade one of the machines to Windows 8, so checked out the BIOS versions.  My board was running 0023.  I wanted to be running 104.

Things went as follows:

  • Tried to update to 0039.  I couldn't, I was told by the F7 BIOS flash that my existing BIOS was too old.
  • F7 upgrade to 0031, worked OK
  • F7 upgrade to 0039 failed
  • Booted in to Windows 7 (existing install of Pro x32 off mSATA SSD) and ran the Express Update within Windows to 0039
  • Rebooted OK, all OK so far
  • Express Update to 0099 - failed in Windows
  • F7 upgrade to 0099 - seemed successful
  • Rebooted, now machine won't boot off mSATA drive, reboots constantly at BIOS screen
  • Tried booting off USB stick, BIOS locks up solid
  • Trying to flash 0104 I get flash failure with "FwUpdateBufferFull" followed by 0x80000....00015 (I think, it doesn't stay on screen long)

So, now my machine won't boot, is stuck on a broken 0099, I obviously can't flash up to 0104, or flash down to something less broken.

Specs:

DH61AG

2x2GB Micron PC3-10600S-9-11-B1 DIMMs

Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 wifi card (tried removing this, no change)

Crucial M4 64GB mSATA SSD

Celeron G530

DVI monitor

Dell 90W PSU

Any suggestions?

recover the data on the RAID 10 volume

$

Hi Experts,

I have a RAID 10 volume built on the Intel ICH10R. However, currently the RAID controller seems cannot recognize the RAID volume. It displays not defined and all the four disks are marked as offline member. Each disk can be detected in both BIOS and the RAID configuration interface (press ctrl+I).

Even if I attach the four disks to another Intel chipset X58, it has the same problem.

Before the issue happens, I only change the SATA port for the disks because one SATA data cable seems has some issue. I shutdown the computer and replace one SATA cable, insert it into a different SATA port. All the 6 SATA ports are native ICH10R ports. After I start the machine again, the issue happens.

How can I recover the data on the RAID 10 volume? Thank you for the help in advance.

DH87RL: USB problems

$

Hello,

I have this DH87RL-board for a few months now. I had problems with USB right from the start.

At first I thought that the cause of the problems was the device itself or the OS but now I'm quite confident that it's the board.

I'm running Kubuntu 14.4 and Windows 7 Pro. Problems occur under both OSes.

This is what I observe:

- I'm using USB keyboard and mouse and both work well -- using any of the connectors (front, rear, USB2, USB3) under both OSes.

- In the boot loader (standard linux boot loader) the keyboard is only working when I select "USB legacy mode" in the BIOS. I find that

quite strange as on the other hand I'm able to enter the BIOS using F2 (prior to the boot loader) in any case.

- My USB2-Stick (Kingston) is also working under all conditions.

- But other devices don't work -- for example my smartphone. The strange thing is that it sometimes works and sometimes not.

My printer/scanner on the other hand never works.

In case my smartphone doesn't work I see messages like the following in the Linux logs:

usb 3-9: new high-speed USB device number 10 using xhci_hcd

usb 3-9: Device not responding to set address.

usb 3-9: Device not responding to set address.

usb 3-9: device not accepting address 10, error -71

usb 3-9: new high-speed USB device number 12 using xhci_hcd

usb 3-9: Device not responding to set address.

usb 3-9: Device not responding to set address.

usb 3-9: device not accepting address 12, error -71

The cause of the problems is not in the USB devices as all devices work well on different computers using different OSes.

My specs:

AA-Number: AAG74240-402

Serial: BQRL331000SC

Version: RLH8710H.86A

I also upgraded to the recent BIOS (0326) but to no avail.

Hope someone can help.

Kind regards,

  Christian

DX79TO: USB3 Hub-Problem and/or Bios Maintenaince Problem

Hello,

I've bought a new monitor: a HP Z27i, that has an integrated USB3.0-Hub;

when I plug in the USB cable into one of the two USB3-Ports on the rear,

the operating system (Windows) detects a 'Renesas Electronics USB 2.0 Hub' and doesn't function anyway;

when I plug in the USB cable into any USB2.0-Port,

the operating system (Windows) detects a 'Generic USB Hub', and everything works fine,

but only with USB 2.0 speed ...

(would there be a workaround like this: installing another USB 3.0 controller into a PCIe x1 slot

with a different chipset - I tested this USB 3.0 hub on my other computer that has a different USB 3.0 controller on board and

detects a 'Generic USB Hub' as expected)

the other problem, when I power on the computer there isn't shown any start screen

(Intel logo plus the menu keys - F2, F9, F10, ...)

the graphics card is the same as before, the only difference: before the old monitor was connected

with a Single-Link-DVI cable and this new one is connected with a Dual-Link-DVI cable;

please can someone help me for a solution on how to get the start screen back;

Thanks,
Walter

AMT KVM not working on DQ87PG

$

I am not successful by trying to connect to a computer with a DQ87PG Desktop board (AMT/vPro KVM).

Here are some details:

  • Tried KVMControlApplication V9.5.0.7864 via default port and another VNC viewer (UltraVNC) via port 5900
  • Server and client are in the same LAN, same subnet
  • Enabled Management Interfaces:  Web UI, KVM

          RFB password set

  • I can reach the WebUI via port 16992, but KVM does not work: no connection
  • In the past, some weeks ago, I got it working, but now after some HW/SW changes and a BIOS update, I can't get any KVM connection.

What troubleshooting can I do to identify the problem here?

Here's some system info:

Does DZ77GA-70K offer RAID with onboard Marvell 88SE9172

$

I'd like to configure a RAID 0 with the on-board Marvell 88SE9172 (grey SATA ports). Via link from DZ77GA-70K motherboard's intel site page I can get to page Desktop Boards — Configuring Your Computer for RAID with demo videos "Introduction to RAID creation".

Creating RAID 0 Using Marvell Controller - YouTube video from that intel page shows the process of creating RAID on Marvell ports. This video shows the possibility to change Secondary SATA mode to RAID. But there is no such possibility in my BIOS - "AHCI" value is blocked. Does the Marvell 88SE9172 chipset actually offer RAID? Is it possible to change Secondary SATA mode on DZ77GA-70K (or its twin DZ77RE-75K) ? Does some versions of BIOS unblock Secondary SATA mode value?

INTEL DH87RL : Unable to enter BIOS

I have purchased an Intel DH87RL motherboard and I have never been able to enter its BIOS.

On pressing F2 on boot, it just freezes till I hit the reset button on the CPU. F7 doesn't work either.

I know the keyboard is working since F10 option to enter the boot menu works.

I have tried out the following:

1. Removed CMOS battery for 12 hrs with CMOS jumper removed.

2. Tried connecting keyboard to the USB 3.0 port near HDMI port, USB on the front, as well as USB 2.0 ports.

3. Tried long pressing the power button( till 3 beeps)... the options appear but on pressing F2 or F7, system hangs and I have to reset the CPU.

4. Updated the BIOS version to 322. Still no use.

5. Replaced CMOS battery.

6. reseated the RAM.

7. Reseated the SATA connector of HDD to other ports (from port 0 to port 1) on motherboard

8. went to windows 7 from windows 8 ( not needed, i know!!)

9. Re-flashed BIOS( from windows )

My configuration is as follows:

i5 processor i5-4570

Kingston (1 X 4GB)  1600MHz RAM

Cooler Master 600W Thunder PSU

Cooler Master K281 cabinet

Seagate Maxtor 500GB 5200RPM HDD

Display out through HDMI to Sharp Aquos TV( Intel HD4600 unable to output the correct resolution to this TV)

Is the motherboard faulty?

Any support in this regard would be really appreciated.

DH87RL + i7-4785T boot problem

$

Hello,

I have recently bought a new computer with a DH87RL motherboard and an i7-4785T processor. No cards installed in the expansion slots.
Under certain conditions, there is no way for the computer to properly turn on:

  • First turn on after being unplugged: I plug the PSU to the outlet, then I press the power button and everything seems to power up (fans, lights, hard disks), but there is no video signal. So now I press the power button for 4 seconds and the system turns off, and then if I try to turn it on again, this time it does perfectly.
  • When having the operating system up and running, if I turn the PC off and then on (without unplugging from the power outlet), I still have no problems at all.
  • When having the operating system up and running, if I restart the PC, the screen remains black. To recover from this point I have to do as with the first case: press power button for 4 seconds and then turn on again.
  • When having the operating system up and running, if I press the Reset button, the screen also remains black, just like the previous case.

As you can see, the system only seems to work after turning it off and on through the power button.

If I replace the CPU with an i3-4130T, everything works prefectly! I have installed the latest motherboard BIOS but nothing changed.

Can you guys shed some light on this? Any clues?

Thanks and regards,

Sebas

Intel DZ87KLT cant connect MSI GTX 980 at 8GT/s via PCI-e x16 gen 3 port

$

Hello, I purchased an MSI GTX 980 gaming 4G graphics card yesterday and encountered the very problem straight away while connecting it to Intel DZ87KLT-75K motherboard.

The problem is motherboards PCI-e x16 v3 port doesnt connect the graphics card to its full transfer rate. Instead of transferring 8GT/s it now connect gtx 980 as PCI-e x16 v1.1 @ transfer rate of 2.5GT/s

I have two of these boards, immediately replaced the motherboard with exact another copy nothing changes. BIOS shows PCI-E x16 2.5GT/s and GPU-Z reports the graphics card is capable to connect through PCI-e x16 v3 but currently connected from PCI-e x16 v1.1.

I searched the forum. Found not much response as very few people purchased this board. I have used almost every BIOS versions to check whether it was causing the issue or not and surprisingly any of those available BIOS versions doesn't fix it.

I tried other PCI express ports with no luck and totally stuck here. Using the card at reduced transfer speed. I actually haven't had this issue with sapphire radeon vapor0x 7970 ghz edition.
