MoBo dp43tf, 2TB WD-HD not detected in cold start

$

I recently stepped into a problem with my HTPC wich reduces to the above mentioned configuration: the HDD is pefectly recognized by the BIOS SATA driver ver 1.10.05 of the latest BIOS (NBG4310H.86A.0107.EB.EXE) when warm-booting, but is not -at least not completely- detected when cold booting. If I stop the Bios with "Pause" for a second early enough (before device detection: the SATA driver displaying dots ...) the drive is also recognized.

I checked and changed the power supply line, I tried all the HDD PreDelays (which seemed to have no influence at all - no IDE devices?), I switched all meaningful alternatives (esp. hiding/displaying extension board text) in the BIOS, and googled, all to no avail.

There is just one detail: the SATA driver always displays "06 Ports, 01 Devices" and either the HDD-code or "No device", the BIOS on the contrary shows either also the HDD code or -thats the hint for an existing and only partially recognized drive- a <totally blank entry> where the HDD code usually is, whereas for all other ports "No device " is shown.

Usually the HTPC is just suspended but in the rare case of deep trouble it has to be powered off (no reset button) and so the problem came up. Are there any suggestions, please?

Thank you in advance!

dh67bl problem after AC power renewed

$

Hello,

I have dh67bl configured so it turns on after AC power supply is lost and renewed again. It works, but very strangely. After the AC supply is renewed, bios freezes on the first intel logo screen, without any text displayed. It stays like this for ~80s, and then it continues with boot sequence normally.  Also when this happens, bios seems to ignore all settings regarding the boot sequence speedup (do not turn on graphics, USB and boot just from HDD).

I observed this behavior only after AC power is lost, when I just restart the system or turn it off and on again without AC disconnected, it boots at normal speed. Also it does not matter if I have any peripheries connected (USB, ETH) and boot order settings does not influence it neither (I have enabled only boot from HDD as #1 option).

Some details about my board

model:  dh67bl

version: aag10189-213

bios version: blh6710h.86a.0160 (newest available)

I would be grateful for any tips what might be causing the problem. Also turning on any debug messages during boot sequence would definitely help - but I have not found any switch enabling this.

thank you

Question on CPU, RAM, Motherboard Compatibility

Hi there,

We have this question from IT Peer Network. Can you respond to us here: http://communities.intel.com/message/200119#200119

Question from

If the wrong RAM is plugged into a MoBo will it ruin the MoBo

I bought a MSI Intel P67 B3, LGA 1155  Motherboard MS-7673 V 1.0 - Core i3-2100 3.1GHz - Patriot DDR3 4GB 1600MHz.

Both the processor and the RAM are compatible with the MoBo but the processor isn't compatible with the RAM. I plugged it in and the board didn't power up. I am purchasing the right RAM, but might I have damaged the MoBo in the process?

The Processor only takes DDR3-1066/1333 and the RAM I plugged in is 1600 MHz.

Thanks much.

Hi,

As you know all other major MB brands have already computability BIOS for them, when we can expect such for Intel X79 board ?

Because nothing can be done during boot with those cards, if you want to install them you need older card to view windows and install driver for the 2nd pci-e inserted card ...no BIOS and no Boot screens are showing.

EFI boot manager ignores menu order and always selects to load Windows Boot Manager

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can confirm or answer why this happens please.

I have an Intel BLH6710H desktop board with the latest BIOS update installed. I have a GPT partition layout with Windows 7 64 bit and Fedora 19 X86_64 installed on an SSD drive on two sperate partitions. I have set Fedora to be the first boot entry in the EFI boot manager like this :

efibootmgr -v
BootCurrent: 0002
Timeout: 1 seconds
BootOrder: 0002,0004,0001,0000,0005
Boot0000* Windows Boot Manager  HD(1,800,32000,1c2cab97-4df9-4777-bd4d-b4f181d8f9a2)File(\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi)WINDOWS.........x...B.C.D.O.B.J.E.C.T.=.{.9.d.e.a.8.6.2.c.-.5.c.d.d.-.4.e.7.0.-.a.c.c.1.-.f.3.2.b.3.4.4.d.4.7.9.5.}...a................
Boot0001* Hard Drive    BIOS(2,0,00)
Boot0002* Fedora        HD(1,800,32000,1c2cab97-4df9-4777-bd4d-b4f181d8f9a2)File(\EFI\fedora\grubx64.efi)
Boot0004* CD/DVD Drive  BIOS(3,0,00)P2: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS70  .
Boot0005* UEFI: Corsair Forc    ACPI(a0341d0,0)PCI(1f,2)03120a000000ffff0000HD(1,800,32000,1c2cab97-4df9-4777-bd4d-b4f181d8f9a2)File(\EFI\BOOT\BOOTX64.EFI)

The EFI folder on my EFI partition contains the folders Boot, fedora and Microsoft.

The only way I can get Fedora to boot by default is by renaming the folder Microsoft to 1Microsoft on the EFI partition. I can also hit the F10 key directly after the BIOS screen at boot to manually start Fedora.

I have used Linux for about nine years now so Fedora is my choice of OS. Windows 7 is just a necessary evil due to my gaming habit.

Legacy BIOS mode for the main board is not an option here.

My question is : Why does the BIOS ignore the boot order I have set?

Drawbacks of RAID versus AHCI

Hi.

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H / F14

On that mobo, the Intel chipset is in charge of 2 SATA3 and 4 SATA2 ports.

I use 2 of the SATA2 ports for RAID and have RAID selected for the Intel chipset in UEFI.

On port 0, I use a Samsung SSD 840.

Now ... the Samsung software Magician reports that AHCI is disabled for the SATA, which is correct.

But as far as I know, RAID includes all benefits of AHCI.

Is that correct?

These would be NCQ, TRIM, ... ?

Thanks,

DX79SR and issue with Desktop Utilities

Greetings forum members.  I have a DX79SR, on the latest bios, and am running the latest version of Desktop Utilities.  I am experiencing an issue or anomaly that you may be able to help me with.

Most of the time, the Desktop Utilities report normal temperatures, 30 to 34 degrees C, for the #1, #2 and #3 voltage regulators as well as the memory temperature.  Recently, Desktop Utilities has flagged temperatures on the #1 VR and the memory at 124 degrees C.  A quick reboot without cutting power restores these readings to the previous normal.  There seems to be no indication of overheating other than what Desktop Utilities is reporting.

Any idea if these readings are in error or are, for some reason, these two temperatures are actually spiking above boiling?  I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Intel DH77DF mSata 6 Gbps capabilities

$

Hi,

I'm about to build a mini ITX Server using a DH77DF MB with an i7 3770.

I'm gonna be using the 2 x Sata 6 Gbps ports to host a RAID 0 array (HDDs) and the 2 x Sata 3 Gbps

for a RAID 1 (also HDDs), so there will be no Sata connector left. Thus, I will need to use the mSata

port to put one of your new 525 SSD which will serve as a VM datastore.

So, here are my questions :

1) I understand that the mSata port uses an adapter to be fitted in the PCIe slot. So, in other

words, if I want to use mSata at all, I can say good bye to the PCIe 16x slot, is that correct ?

2) Now, speed-wise, from what I gathered, mSata does handle Sata 3 speeds but is ultimately handled

by the H77 Sata controller which only supports 2 drives in Sata 3 / 6 Gbps mode.

So, which disks will have priority for Sata 3 speed in that case (2xSata3 + mSata connected) ?

I'm guessing not the mSata...

3) If so, will I be able to set the Sata 3 ports to run at Sata 2 speed so that only the mSata runs

@6Gbps and the other four HDDs @3Gbps (as Sata 3 is really not needed for HDDs) ?

Best regards

Конфигурация для Intel Smart Response, Будет ли работать Smart Response без Rapid Storage

Здравствуйте,ситуация следующая:

Хочу собрать систему поддерживающую технологию Intel® Smart Response.

Я планирую систему с чипсетом z77 или H77 и процессором 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i3.

Intel® Rapid Storage (Intel® RST)".

При этом "для реализации технологии Intel® Rapid Storage необходима система на базе процессора Intel® Core™ 4-го поколения" (а у меня 3rd Generation).

Получается, что планируемая система поддерживает Smart Response, но не поддерживает Rapid Storage.

Будет ли работать Smart Response без Rapid Storage, ведь Smart Response является компонентом Rapid Storage????

DQ77KB supply problems?

$

A week back, I completed researching the components for a new computer, and decided to construct a computer based on the DQ77KB motherboard. I was a bit annoyed to see that the DQ77KB had increased from £100 to £120 in the UK in the previous week, but I ordered it anyway from an Ebay vendor. Despite claiming that they had despatched it, it didn't turn up, and then today they suddenly issued a refund with no explanation.

So today, I re-checked Ebay and found that (with one exception) all the vendors in the UK (and the US exporters on UK's Ebay) that had been offering the DQ77KB had withdrawn it. I checked Amazon and found that it had suddenly doubled in price to £240. Google Shopping (UK) had been offering multiple vendors last week, but the few that still list it now say they've zero stock. I've ordered it for £140 from that one remaining Ebay vendor, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it actually gets despatched, but given the behaviour of the other vendors, I'm a bit doubtful. This is really annoying because I've received all of the other components for the system, which makes it problematic to change my choice of motherboard now.

Anybody know what's going on?

Intel DH77EB POST problems.

Hi,

First post here. I built a new system one week back. Specs are:

Intel i5-3570.

Intel DH77EB.

Zotac GeForce GT630 2GB.

Cooler Master 500W PSU.

Dell 2240L monitor.

I think the problem has started only recently but don't know for sure as it may have been there since assembling the PC. When I power on the PC, I hear a beep and then nothing on the monitor for close to 30-60 seconds and then the usual BIOS screen appears and windows starts to load. Strangely, this happens only on a cold boot up. If I restart the machine, there is no beep and no delay in showing the initial BIOS screen and windows loads normally. I don't know what version of BIOS i have, it is whatever was on the board. I have the latest chipset drivers, audio, and video drivers loaded. I have not changed any hardware since then. Can anyone please help me find out what the problem may be or is this normal?

Rear fan not spinning after wake from sleep, new Intel H87 system

$

I have a new system built on the Intel H87-based DH87MC motherboard, running Windows 7 x64. I have one front/"inlet" fan hooked up to the front fan header, and one rear/exhaust/"outlet" fan hooked up to the rear fan header. Both run fine on initial boot or restart. The front fan is non-PWM (3-pin), while the rear fan is a Noctua PWM fan (NF-P12 120mm fan).

When I wake my computer from sleep, the rear fan attempts to spin, but then just stops. All other fans (front fan, CPU, GPU) spin up just fine. I've tried turning off auto fan control in the BIOS, upping the minimum fan threshold, etc., but nothing seems to fix this one issue. I've also hooked up other fans, like 3-pin non-PWM fans, and the same thing happens.

Could this be a BIOS problem? A Windows problem? I'm pretty sure it is not a bad fan problem, as I've tried multiple fans with the same results.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
