Intel DZ68BC

Hello All,

I recently got a new  (in box) Intel DZ68BC motherboard, I moved all my pieces over from an older Intel motherboard (as I wanted the extra PCIe slot) and now I cannot get my system to POST at all. When I put power onto the machine and attempt to power it up, I get the 3-BEEP then pause issue, which seems (from the manual) to mean that my Memory is failing? So, I attempted to replace it with working memory (I took it out of the system I'm working on now) and it's still giving me the same error.

Any suggestions of something I can attempt to fix before I have to put my old MB back into my system just so I can get it to work?

Thanks,

David

DX58SO System Build - No Beep Codes, No Video

$

I’m building a PC based around the DX58SO motherboard.  The problem that I’m having is that there is no video (including the BIOS screens) nor are there any beep codes.

For diagnostic purposes, the PC was built outside of the case.   I’m also building two of these PCs so I have two of everything.

The configuration I’m trying to get to is:

  • Intel DX58SO motherboard
  • Intel i7-965 Extreme CPU
  • Titan TTC-NK35TZ (140 Watt) heatpipe CPU cooler
  • Generic  4 x 4GB DDR3-1600 memory (non-ECC)
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 750  Ti FTW 2GB graphics card
  • Toshiba 1 TB DT01ACA100 hard drive
  • H-L Blu-Ray reader,  DVD+/-RW,  CD-RW optical drive
  • ThermalTake TR2 700W  TR700 power supply

When I power up the system up, the fan whir and spin, but I never get to the point where I can see anything on the screen.

The two motherboards are slightly different.  One is rev 501 which has a default BIOS of 2127.  The other is rev 703 which has a default BIOS of 5200.  The latest BIOS is 5600.  The i7-965 requires a minimum BIOS of 2388 so I know I have a problem with the older of the boards.

The latest BIOS was downloaded (SO5600P.bio) and burnt to a CD.   I remove the BIOS jumper, put the CD into the optical drive, boot the system, but the system never seems to boot from the CD.  The light flashes on the optical drive for several seconds and then goes dark.  Burnt another CD – same result.  Swapped the drive for a DVD drive – same result.  Try it on the other system – same result.

So on the rev 703 system

Swapped the memory for others - including DDR3-1333, other sizes and different slots - and the fan whir and spin, but I never get to the point where I can see anything on the screen. Remove memory and there are no beep codes.

Removed the battery for an hour to reset the BIOS – same result

Swapped power supplies for two others – same result.

Swapped the CPUs – same result.

Swapped the video card for four others (three PCIe-x16 and one PCI) – same result.

Search the web.  It seems a number of people have this problem but there is little consensus on how to fix it.

Tried this multiple times with the same result

  • Step 1 - Cut it off and either unplug it or use the hard switch next to the  plug on your power supply if available.  Wait at least 30 seconds.
  • Step 2 - Press and Hold  the 'power on ' button on the front of your machine  (e.g. press it in and don't release)
  • Step 3 - Use your 3rd hand to now switch on the power supply or plug in the cable (while you’re holding the power button in).
  • Step 4 - (and this takes careful listening to the machine) keep holding the button for about 2-3 sec.   Listen for a mechanical sound as it powers up b/cuz once it passes, you need to let go of the button.
  • Step 5 - BINGO - my 10 boot.

So any suggestions ?

DQ77KB no video

I have seen numerous posts regarding lack of video or perceived failure to post for the DQ77KB.  I am now seeing the exact same thing.

DQ77KB, G550T CPU, two 4GB sticks of DRAM straight off the Intel HCL.  Connected to a monitor via an HDMI -> DVI cable.  Board fired right up and I got into BIOS.  The *only* thing I changed was to turn on a fast boot option (I only saw it once so I don't remember precisely what it was, but there were three settings for making the BIOS boot faster, and I changed one).  At that point, I saved changes and rebooted.  The board powered up for about six seconds, then powered down (not even long enough for the CPU fan to come to a complete stop) and then fired back up again.  No video.  This is now the behavior of the board 100% of the time -- power up, board comes up for 5-6 seconds, powers itself down, powers itself back up, and runs (presumably) -- no video.  I have tried each SODIMM by itself, and together (as it had originally worked once upon a time).  No luck.  I tried two different monitors, no luck.  In fact, the blue LED on the board blinks once when the board first powers up -- and if I wait a bit and then press "ctrl-alt-del" the light blinks again -- exactly at the same moment, as though I am rebooting the board but simply can't see it.  So I think the board is actually up and working, however there is no video.

I tried using the jumper to clear/reset BIOS.  I removed the CMOS battery for an hour, unplugged the board from power.  Nothing is working.  Yet I think the board is actually coming up, there is simply no video.  When I plug earphones into the green jack, I get a single high pitched beep when the board comes up.

How can I correct this?  Perhaps the one single BIOS change I made has totally FUBAR'd this board?!  I would have thought that the things I have done to this point would have reset the BIOS to defaults.

I have seen, as I said, numerous posts about this board and similar issues, with little to no information from support as far as what the problem could be, yet it seems widespread.  I have contacted my vendor to see if I can do an RMA, but it troubles me that the board appears to respond to the keyboard, yet simply won't display video.

Any advice most welcome.

DG41RQ + SATA & PATA Hard Disks Failure

System config :
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E7400
Motherboard : Intel DG41RQ
Memory : 3 GB DDR2 800 Kingston     RAM ( 1 stick 1 GB + 1 stick 2 GB )

Storage : 1 SATA ST3250318AS Seagate 250 GB HDD + 1 PATA Hitachi 40 GB Desktar

ROM : Samsung SATA DVDRW
Operating System :          Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
Graphics                    : On-board Intel GMA X4500

Hello,
I was happily using this system for about a year  now without any trouble at all.
We have frequent electricity breakdowns, but nothing  damaging ever happened, BUT everything changed when, today, the BIOS  wasn't able to detect the SATA HDD. I tried re-wiring, but nothing  happened. Then I turned the SATA mode from "Native (Enhanced)" to  "Legacy" in the BIOS.
The Hard Disk is being detected in that ( Legacy ) mode ( sometimes  ).
I was able only once to get to the "Windows 7 loading screen", but  it seemingly hanged there, and there was that problem once again.
( No HDD detection in BIOS )
I even updated the BIOS, but in vain.
I thought, that my SATA drive was faulty, so I removed it's cables, and tried to install XP on the 40 GB PATA Hard Disk.

The XP Setup goes as it should, but at the 1st restart, I get this when trying to boot from the PATA Drive " Disk Read Error. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart your computer."

I was being shown the same error, when I was trying to boot from the SATA drive.

I think the storage controller has developed some problems, should I try some solutions or return it for warranty ?

CPU: Intel i5 3350P @3.10 ghz

SSD: Intel SSD 730 - 480GB

Memory: 16GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600

When PC is powered on, motherboard splash screen displays with options F2 (bios), F7 (bios update), F10 (boot menu). If I do nothing, the system resets and same screen will display briefly before a notification displaying "BIOS has detected unsuccessful POST attempt(s). Possible causes include recent changes to BIOS Performance Options or recent hardware change. Press Y to enter setup or N to cancel and attempt to boot with previous settings". If I hit F10, boot menu screen displays with:

P2: Asus DRW-24B1ST i

P5: Intel SSDSC2BP480G4

UEFI: ASUS DRW-24B1ST i  (when UEFI is enabled)

I'm able to toggle between the options, pressing enter or space on the DVD drive does not appear to have any effect other than the screen locks up and I'm unable to toggle between options and mouse ceases to move. The DVD does not begin to spin, light does not turn on.  Leaving this screen on after selecting DVD drive for 5+ minutes has no effect and i'm forced to restart the PC.  Selecting UEFI DVD option and non UEFI DVD option has the same effect.

DVD drive is set to boot first in boot order. DVD drive successfully opens and will spin.  Have tried plugging into SATA ports 0,2,3 with no change in behavior or success. Have tried two different Windows 7 DVDs - one that was successful in a previous build and one that is brand new- both are for 64bit Windows 7 home. Have tried booting with Chipset SATA mode set to AHCI and IDE with no change in result between the two.

Have tried disabling and enabling UEFI BOOT with no change in result.

I'm unsure of where to proceed from here. Is there some other BIOS setting or combination of BIOS settings that will successfully boot from the DVD drive? Do I need to update my BIOS version? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Intel HD graphics causing high CPU utilization

Using the DH61AG motherboard onboard graphics with the latest Intel drivers, Task Manager showed unusually high CPU usage (up to 30%) by System (NT Kernel & System) when watching movies.  I tried this without the onboard graphics and CPU utilization went down to roughly 0 for System.  Using Process Explorer, I've tracked it down to ntoskml.exe!WheaAttemptPhysicalPageOffline+0x350 and dxgmms1.sys.  I believe this is the Intel graphics driver making a DirectX call to page system memory.  If there is a way to fix this or if I have to wait for a driver release please let me know.

DQ77KB no video no post no beeps

I bought a dq77kb mainboard and I cannot get to show information on a display.

Also the keyboard numlock led does not light up.

The processor is in the compatible procs list

its a i3-3220T processor. The cpu fan start to run. I have a headset plugged in and I do not hear any beeps

When I remove the memory I hear the 3 beeps.

I can't go to the bios as I can see anything. It appears the usb ports don't get power.

I would try a bios upgrade if I could, but it doesn't get to that stage. So no POST either. Tried clear CMOS with power cable dettached, doesn't help

All of this has also been performed out of the chassis with only one memory card in place, no connections but the power switch. It starts running it gives no unusual led activity and no beeps.

The processor is compatible and I don't have any other processors.

The power is connected externally and it has 90 Watts. It boots up an hp laptop nicely with no issues.

I followed all the troubleshooting steps but don't know what else there is I can do.

I have seen multiple posts regarding similar issues. They have not been answered by Intel here:

DZ87KLT-75K BIOS UPDATE for Upcoming 5th Gen CPU Broadwell ? & Windows 10 Driver Support?

$

0

It's all over the internet that Broadwell will be launching some time in June of this year and it will reportedly launch only two 1150 CPUs all Unlocked namely Core i7-5775C and the Core i5-5675C this are 14nm parts.

Both the i7-5775C and the i5-5675C are quad-core parts, with TDP rated as low as 65W. The i7-5775C offers clock speeds of 3.30 GHz, with 3.70 GHz Turbo Boost, while the i5-5675C offers 3.10 GHz, with 3.60 GHz Turbo Boost. The i7-5775C comes with just 6 MB of L3 cache, while the i5-5675C offers just 4 MB of it. The i7-5775C offers HyperThreading, letting the OS address eight logical CPUs, while the i5-5675C lacks it. Both chips feature Intel's Iris Pro 6200 series integrated graphics, and feature dual-channel DDR3L-1600 memory support.

This will be good for the DZ87KLT-75K as its the last Intel Desktop Board plus the above mentioned CPUs will be the last of 1150 socket, If Intel could spare some time and update the DZ87KLT-75K's BIOS to at list support the Broadwell 14nm. Intel refused to support Haswell Refresh as far as we've seen. Maybe Since broadwell seems to make much of an upgrade sense in terms of power consumption and optical shrink it would be nice to have support for the upcoming two chips.

Windows 10

I hope we will not be left behind support wise in regards to Windows 10 drivers for DZ87KLT-75K when the operating system launches its the next big thing coming out and supports DX12, Intel please consider.

I have an INTEL DG41TY motherboard. I tried booting up using the USB flash drive. All I get is the cursor on the upper left corner of the screen blinking. I know the USB flash drive is working because it works on other systems. The BIOS on this motherboard is version 45. Set the BIOS to boot on USB first, enable USB boot first. BIOS sees the flash drive but still will not boot. Used the F10 (boot menu) selected the flash drive, still same problem. Need help.

Desktop board DZ77GA-70K - BIOS ???

I bought in October 2012th Intel Desktop Board DZ77GA - 70K , Intel i5 - 3570K and the Intel SSD 520 180GB .

On the PC, the system is Windows7 - 64bit .

Intel Desktop Bord DZ77GA - 70K was purchased with BIOS ver .0021 and now I'm working with the same version of the 0021.

I checked all the BIOS updates that you have and build on what and what is the fix, so I figured why I have some problems with my motherboard DZ77GA - 70K . ( when you turn on the PC , the fans spin at maximum speed , why do my schedule to boot the system I used to be a mess , some settings do not work well , and my PC in Win7 sometimes known by itself reset , I tried it with a Corsair Force3 SSD 120GB and Western Digital Blue 1TB HDD , and the same is happening ) .

So I want to upgrade the BIOS .
I wonder if I can upgrade my version of 0021 at the latest BIOS ver 0066 ?
Do you have to go row 0021-0066 ( 0027 , 0035 ... 0064 , 0066 - there are 14 versions ) ?
Does this ver . 0066 has all the upgrades and fixes version 0027-0064 ?
Which method updates the BIOS do you recommend ?
Thank you in advance for your answers , you will help me a lot !!!
