Any difference between eSATA and SATA ports on DH67?

$

DH67CL, DH67BL, and some others of the same vintage have two SATA III ports, two SATA II ports, and one specially designated as eSATA. Is there any difference between the eSATA and SATA II ports, other than marketing?

I'm hoping the answer is that it is somewhat isolated / separate from the SATA ports, but still possible to use for booting.

My board is dx58so2.

A few days ago, USB devices were repeatedly recognized.

3 beeps after rebooting.

You have reinstalled RAM.

After that, you will not hear any beeps, but the M / B will stop at POST code 58 and the screen will "-" come to a stop.

Postal code 58 is "USB bus resetting".

How do I reset the USB bus?

What do I need to do?

Could it be a hardware problem (a chip gone bad?)

If Scott reads this, yes, this pertains to my DH67CL board with an unreliable SATA III port.

If a SATA port becomes flaky, then the chipset is likely becoming flaky, as Scott said. Given that work=heat and heat degrades electronics, is there any point in trying to offload some of the chipset's functions or is it just shuffling deck chairs on the Intel version of the Titanic? Specifically:

- Adding a NIC card and disabling the on-board LAN in BIOS would shift Ethernet from the on-board NIC to the card.

- Adding a SATA controller add-on card would allow the DVD/CD and data drives to bypass the SATA controller in the chipset, though I'd still need at least one SATA port on the board to boot. There's a few cards with Marvell controllers that look attractive.

Both of these proposals would increase work for the PCIe channels which the chipset also manages, so is this a good trade-off?

Also, how would adding a graphics card affect the chipset? I would imagine, not being an Intel insider, that using Intel graphics would be the most efficient from a chipset point of view.

I need some info on the power of USB Type-C ports with Power Delivery supplied by PCs and laptops. Does INTEL have any PC and or Laptops that will supply more than 15W ? Do you know how common they are (or will be) and where I can get info on this ? I am in the process of designing a peripheral device and we will need more the 3A@+5V but I am not sure if the intel  PCs and Laptops provide this ?

Intel motherboard DZ68DB bios eeprom image construction

Hi, I am one of the victims of the Intel motherboard DZ68DB bios bug/fault. I follow the Intel instruction to upgrade the bios from version 0014 to transition bios version 0032 then to 0043 for Gen 3 cpu using F7 method. However when I upgrade from 32 to 43, it suddenly gets black screen and brick the motherboard. I then follow the bios recovery procedures which are definite NOT working because all the usb ports and sata ports (for CD rom) are not activated if the bios is corrupted during 32 to 43 upgrade. Now I only hope that someone can provide me the steps to construction a working eeprom bios image from the corrupted bios chip and official .bio file. I can desolder the bios chip flash/program it and solder it for real recovery. Many thanks in advance!

D510MO Failed?

I recently came into possession of one of these boards, and im trying to get it running, well, running again.

I was able to get the device up and running with an old ssd with win 10 on it. just to see if the board was working. And it was!

We decided to install windows 7 on it as we have a key and it is more compatible, driver wise with 7.

I shut it down and attached an external usb cdrom to install 7. but the boot order kept trowing me back into windows 10.

Entering the BIOS, we set the cdrom as first boot and saved the settings, also disabled UEFI Boot.

Upon starting the computer, nothing will boot, nor can we enter the bios anymore. just an error that no boot device found.

I have changed the jumper setting to short pins 2-3 to force it into the bios, but it still will not get into bios setup. also pulled battery for 30-40 minutes and attempted a recovery of the bios from a *.BIO file from usb

Nothing seems to allow access to the bios setup now, nor can we get the board to boot from any drive, cdrom, or usb.

Any Suggestions or is the board dead all of a sudden?

ram upgrade in a Toshiba laptop with Intel HM55 (IbexPeak-M DH)  chipset

Hello guys,

I'm looking for a 4gb upgrade for an old laptop, a Toshiba satellite c645, part number PSC02U-00LLM1 number get by toshiba info tool.

Hwinfo64  says that the laptop have a HM55 chipset, and looking this thread

Intel® HM55 Express Chipset with Kingston RAM 8GB 1600 MHz

I saw that the chipset only supports memories with 256kb memory banks, but. When I put the system on kingston webpage, to fing the optimized ram for that system, it put this ram:

Búsqueda de memoria

kingston

KCP316SS8/4

But... ¡that ram have banks of 512KB!

So, finally what is the true information? I need this, because I bought a wrong ram that didn't work on the laptop (kingston

KCP3L16SS8/4

) and I don't want do the same mistake again.

Or a corsair similar ram that works... In corsair webpage I can't find my system.

thanks guys.

DQ77MK PCIE BIOS BUG

So i have two machines with Intel DQ77MK Boards

And have found two bios bugs

On S3 Suspend to ram (UEFI OS) the PCH PCIE ports on wakeup only initialize at PCIE 1.0 x 4 Speed

and are stuck that way a straight reboot fixes this so the bios manages to initialize fine on boot

and just has issues on wakeup

I350-T2=Locked at PCIE 1.0 x 4 after S3 UEFI

Toshiba XG3=Locked at PCIE 1.0 x 4 after S3 UEFI

PCIE 3.0 x 16 Slot doesnt have this problem

PCIE 2.0 x 1 Slots i have no idea as my Intel AC-7260's are 1.1

Windows Event Log moans about a HAL problem after S3 in UEFI Mode

and points at a faulty bios if the OS isnt in UEFI Mode this doesnt happen after S3 in the eventlog

No idea if the PCH PCIE 1.0 x 4 Bug happens in non UEFI OS as i only noticed this bug the other day

but noticed the Event Log UEFI Mode S3 Problem quite some time ago

this isnt just a case of PCIE power management before anyone mentions it

but the device is locked at PCIE 1.0 after S3 as can be confirmed by NVME SSD benchmarks of

700 MB/S instead of 1400 MB/S after S3

I have 100% confirmed this is a bios bug im not looking for help on my specific devices

BUT Requesting a Firmware Update that fixes this Problem

I have an Intel Desktop system Board DZ77SL-50K running Win10 Pro.  Often, the Ethernet connection will not start on boot giving an error (sorry, will update error code when it happens again).  I go to Device Manager and there's a yellow triangle indicating a problem. Uninstall/reinstall of the device works—but the problem keeps happening. My BIOS was one revision old, so I updated, but to no effect. This board is too old for direct support for Intel.  No Ethernet drivers listed online. Any thoughts?

Unusual issue with onboard USB

Hello,

Using an Intel motherboard that simply identifies itself to auditing software as "Intel Chiefriver". (Single board PC used in an industrial enclosure)

The audit software identifies the following chips/drivers for USB2/3

  • Intel (r) 7 series/C216 Chipset family USB enhanced host controller (1e26)
  • Intel (r) 7 series/C216 Chipset family USB enhanced host controller (1e2D)
  • Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft)

We have a mouse, Keyboard and a USB lead to a data collector, plugged into the USB ports.

Randomly, intermittently, the link to the Data collector drops out.

The mouse/Keyboard are fine.

It could take seconds to drop out, minutes or hours.

If all we do is move the USB items to a USB 2.0 non powered hub on the back of the same Pc's USB ports, it becomes very reliable.

The system runs Windows 10.

Any ideas what's going on?

The USB hub is multi TT (multiple transaction translator) so there are controller chips per port on the hub.

The device that drops out is USB 3. (The hub makes it communicate at USB2).

It does not matter if we plug into the USB 2 or 3 at the rear of the PC, the same symptoms occur.

I have to wonder if it's some buffer problem at the PC USB that the hub mitigates as it needs to share the resources over the multiple ports and hence artificially slows the data streams down (millseconds maybe).

I also have to wonder if the connection from the hub to the PC negotiates to an acceptable USB 2 level, the ports on the hub to the device also negotiate to an acceptable USB 2 level, but the device direct to the PC, maybe they are not negotiating correctly ?

We tried a shorter USB cable (As admittedly this was 5m, and too long), same issue.

We tried a Powered USB 3.0 hub (it actually got worse) - however I am not sure the powered hub supports multi TT and we all know USB hubs can be cheap or expensive and all have different features.

We have also tried a USB 1 port isolator (protects from ESD and over voltage).

I did note that the application in use was pushing the CPU to over 90% utilisation (With everything else that was running) and knowing that this may affect USB, I tuned the apps and turned off services on the PC and got it down to 50% at peak, the problem still happens.

The USB drivers were dated 2006/Microsoft for the USB2, and 2016/Microsoft for the USB3.

I have tried monitoring the USB ports using USBlyzer and "free usb analyser". Are there any tools for logging and diagnosing these things people can suggest ?

I hope someone out there might be able to give us an idea what to try next to isolate this issue as the USB hub might not be suitable for long term use in this application.

We have tried the usb-iso olimex isolator (full speed USB2) - USB-ISO Olimex LTD | Development Boards, Kits, Programmers | DigiKey

We have used a Four Port Industrial USB 2.0 Hub UH104 (which works much better but not perfect) - Four Port Industrial USB 2.0 Hub UH104

We have used a mbeat 4 port USB hub - Stick 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub - mbeat  (Very reliable and almost perfect)

Thanks

Limited to No PS/2 Function DH55TC (H55, LPC bus)

The two DH55TC motherboards I own do not recognize PS/2 devices fully.

During POST, with a PS/2 keyboard connected, the two digit Port 80h indicator shows code 98 "resetting mouse" and code 94, "clearing keyboard input buffer". POST takes longer than with nothing plugged into the PS/2 port. Once POST completes, any OS will boot and not recognize any device.

While in POST, with a PS/2 keyboard connected, you can use the function keys to access BIOS setup and boot menu. POST still takes longer than it normally does. If F10 is pressed, the boot menu will load, but the keyboard will not respond. If F2 is pressed, BIOS setup allows the use of the arrow keys, enter, and escape. Cap lock, number lock and scroll lock LEDs on keyboard do no respond. Tab does not work. All the F keys do not work; you cannot use F10 as a quick save and exit. You can move around the setup tabs and select fields, but only manipulate settings with menus with the enter key. You cannot set the time, as none of the numbers or number pad works. Once you arrow key to Save and Exit, the computer reboots with a slow POST, booting into any OS with no keyboard detected at OS.

LPC drivers are in tact. No PS/2 port is shown anywhere in the Device Manager that I can find. It does list HID keyboard drivers. USB keyboards work fine.

BIOS is up to date on both motherboards, as well as chip set and all other drivers

I have not tried to use the communications or parallel port supported by the LPC. Both ports are shown in the Device manager, with their age old typical IRQs assigned.

I've tried a very large number of diverse keyboards. I have tried mice, which do not work either, but I'm only concentrating on keyboards. The motherboard was stripped to bare, tried different RAM, turned off the other ports controlled by the LPC, disabled and enabled USB options, reset BIOS to default and a few others I'm forgetting to mention.

Any ideas? It seems it should be correctable, since the same exact two DH55TC fail exactly in the same manner.

I want to update with latest so I have downloaded BEH6110H.86A.0120.EB.WINPE64.exe and executed it.

I am getting error that "current bios is an unsupported legacy BIOS".

Any good solution?

I am using windows 7 and it crashes every after few days with classpnp.sys error. I hope bios update may help me to get rid of.
