Windows 8.1 update and DH77EB

$

Everything worked fine with Windows 8. Installing the update 8.1 did not pass. It turned out only after all the services have been disabled except for Microsoft.

When you turn on the service Intel Desktop Board FSC Application Service system stops working completely. Just reboot after safe mode and disabling the service.

What kind of service is not found. So I work without it, but in doubt ...

I need a help.

DX79SR and PowerSupply Question

$

I'm building a new PC using the Intel DX79SR (maybe the ASUS Sabertooth X79) with an i7-3970X.

Components:

    • PNY NVIDIA NVS 510 2GB GDDR3 4-Mini DisplayPort (There will be no high-end graphics cards.)
    • OCZ Technology 512GB Vector Series SSD
    • Seagate Desktop HDD 4TB SATA drive
    • 32GB memory

Will be liquid-cooled but likely will not attempt to over-clock it.

I have a Zalman heatpipe cooled 600W ZM600-HP power supply and would like to know if you think it will be sufficient.

Hello everyone. There was my problem, I can not update the BIOS. I have version 0064 when I go to the update tool and try to download the new version, the computer just loads Windows and that's it. Can anyone encountered this problem and help solve it. Thank you in advance.

Intel DX58SO UEFI boot fatal for ssd or second harddisk attached

The dx58so works fine with uefi boot and windows 7 64 bit professional.

but now that I want to add ubuntu 13.04 (uefi boot signed by microsoft) on a SSD then the system cvan not boot anymore.

Perhaps the board has problems with ssd but nope, I removed the SSD and a second harddisk partitioned by ubuntu (swap and /temp)

was still attached  and still no boot, windows can simply not start.

Another thing that I've noticed, if AHCI is enabled in the bios, after a reboot, the bios switches back to IDE.

And as soon when the second harddisk is removed so just the harddisk that contains windows is still used, then windows can start again.

The ssd is a patriot pyro 60GB

the second harddisk, no matetr which one, simply not allowed to add cause windows can't boot again.

even if I select the boot menu and the windows boot manager , windows can't simply not start.

Second harddisk removed and windows is back.

Hello All,

I am using a DX79TO with an i7 3930k.

I want to purchase a Radeon HD7870XT and that card uses PCIE 3.0.

The box of my DX79TO has an * by the PCIE 3.0 saying it would work with processor that supports PCIE 3.0.

So would the i73930k enable PCIE 3.0 support on this board.

Thanks

Hi

I have installed Windows 2012 Server on DN2800MT (only64bit) and it works fine although it is unsupported.

But I have got only 2 x 2GB (dual channel) of memory modules for testing purposes. It works fine (I thougth only single channel is supported).

Q:     Is there anybody who has installed 8GB RAM (I know it is not supported)?

thanks in advance

Several serious issues with DZ77BH-55K

$

Hi *,

I bought this board last year in December (12/12). Since then I try to get this board running correctly. I hoped that somedays a new bios Version would solve the issues. but thats not. I use a XEON E3-1230-V2, a Gigabyte GTX 660Ti, Kingston HyperX KHX1600C9D3K4/16GX (which are INTEL XMP CERTIFIED), a Samsung SSD 830 Series. I use Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Fedora 18.

Problems:

1. The RAM is not running in its 1600 Speed. Event if i set the XMP Profile via Visual Bios. It still remains at 1333 speed

2. The CPU wont throttle down. No matter what OS i use the CPU is always running on full Speed. 3.29 GHz. No Settings of the Bios will Change this.

3. If i plug in my dasKeyboard Keyboard on the PS/2 Slot the machine holds on POST displaying no Keyboard present. The machine will only start up if the Keyboard is pluged in to the always power usb ports. If i plugin any other usb device in the always on ports the machine won't run!

4. If i try to shutdown the pc the machine hangs always trying to read from my DVD burner, even theres no disc.

5 The last bios update to Version 100 removed any boot drive from being recognized by the bios so the machine will only boot to the first hd and the os installed there. Only if i go to visual bios and load the Default Settings and restart the drives will be shown ONE TIME.

I built pc for now over 20 years. I never bought a Intel board. I thought if i buy a Intel board and pay more than other boards cost i will get Quality. It makes sense to me that Intel will leave the Mainboard production.

Has anyone the sames Problems as i described? Has anyone Solutions for the Problems that i described?

Thx in advance and greetings from lower Bavaria

Helpfull tricks for the DX79SI motherboard

$

Hello guys, I believe I have had som luck finding solutions for several issues with the DX79SI motherboard. I hope these tricks works as well for you.

First of all PCIe 3.0 works well with my Nvidia 670 GPU. The trick is to use the uppermost PCIe slot on the board. This slot is not shared and has no lane switches. Perhaps the lane switching IC's creates noise on the bus? Nvidias own control panel confirms that PCIe 3.0 is active after having run the force-enable-gen3.exe tool. I have stress tested the card using Furmark. No problems so far.

Secondly, my Kingston HyperX memory modules are working perfectly now at 2133 MHz. Apparently the DX79SI board uses the wrong CAS write latency timing. It always sets a Tcwl timing of 8 ?! The modules XMP settings however says that a timing of 10 should be used. It's an easy fix to use manual settings and the AUTO value for Tcwl. Or manually setting to 10 of course.

There have also been problems with Intels 520 SSD's. They always seem to crash when I use the SSD Optimizer in the Toolbox. In RAID mode at least. I seem to have solved the problem though. Simply use the "high performance" power setting in Windows 8. This disables DIPM on the SATA interface. After that, there have been no lock-ups so far.

I only have 2 outstanding issues now. One is the lack of Smart Response Tech in the RSTe drivers. With Asus, Asrock or Gigabyte boards you can fix it by Switching to the RST OROM in the BIOS. On the Asus boards you do that by using UEFI boot. With Asrock you just select it in the BIOS.

Why can't you do that with the DX79SI? It must be a BIOS issue.

My last issue is the lack of support for Windows 8 secure boot. You can use UEFI boot and Windows 8 with the DX79SI, but the system information shows that secure boot is not supported. Secure boot works well with Asus boards using the same chipset, so it must be a BIOS issue?

Overall I'm now pleased with the system though.

UEFI Boot fails on DZ77SL-50K

If I deactivate "legacy boot" in the "visual bios", the PC isn't booting anymore. I can't see anything on the screen I just hear 2 beeps. To fix it I have to change the jumper position and tick the "legacy boot" option back on. Why is it neccessary to do so? My Hard Disk is a 3TB one and I installed Windows with UEFI.

The BIOS version is:

I have a problem with my D945GCLF2D. When I switch it on, it doesn't output anything, except a weird Power LED Signal. Below is a picture of the

signal, metered by my osciloscope. But the signal doesn't look like a BIOS LED Blink Code in the datasheet. I even tried to put the .bio file on an empty flash drive and remove the jumper, but the board didn't do anything. But when I tried to remove the RAM, it made a memory error blink code. Does anyone know, what's wrong with that board?

Overheating problems with DX58OG

$

Hello,

I've recently build two systems with DX58OG and i7-980X processors but I'm running into serious overheating problems. While the CPU is cold as the ice princess, the chipset is gravely overheating. Althought the fan from CPU heatsink is blowing air over chipset's heatsink, that doesn't help much. Even leaving system normally running in win7 environment, the chipset gets overheated not to mention running any application (and I believe that noone spends money for 980x to be wathching screensavers). From the beginning they are additional 120mm fans installed in the case (Chieftec Aegis) but although the air is blowing over heatsink it obviously isn't enough. I'm using normal PC vents, not ones with air flow that will suffice in cooling down the house. But as I said, I can't do anything with the system as the chipset gets to warm. The only solution so far is, to disable automatic controlling of CPUs fan and keep it running at full sped, but in that case, I need ear mufflers. So now, I'm a bit confused. I never before had such problems with Intel boards and I just don't know if the boards are faulty or is this a major drawback in Intel's engineering ? I've already upgraded BIOS and defaulted the BIOS settings, but to no help. Does anybody else have problems with mention motherboard or am I singled out in this universe ?

Desktop Board DX79TO 2 USB 3.0 Rear ports keep giving problems even after installing the fix

$

Hi,

I recently build a Windows 8 Pro x64 PC Based on the Intel Desktop Board DX79TO, but even after installing the available fix for the 2 USB 3.0 ports at the rear of the PC i keep getting the same problems as before.

The ports work like they should, except that I keep getting the same problem at start-up everytime there is a device still attached to the port.

  • "System hangs on POST code 58 for one minute if any device is attached to USB 3.0 ports, and then continues the boot process."

Even though start-up from USB is placed UNDER those of the internal HDD's in the boot sequence.

Does anyone know how to fix this, or is someone familiar with the problem at all?

Would be nice if I shouldn't have to disconnect my 3TB Mybook 3.0 everytime I want to boot my pc...

Many Thanks

Sven

Intel DG43GT Bios Update Fail

$

Ok, so this is my first post, and it's about a discontinued motherboard. So quick and to the point, after the update failed i tried every recovery method i could find, none of them worked, just before giving up i noticed that the motherboard has SPI which is great. The only problem is that i need a BIOS dump file from a working DG43GT because i am not able to extract the binary image from the .bio file.

Is anyone willing or able to help me with this?

DZ77BH-55K doesnt post with two sata drives

Hi, I have a DZ77BH-55K motherboard, it works fine with 1 harddisk connected to the 6gb sata. However once I connect a second sata drive (be it to the 6gb or other sata), the bios doesnt finish its post any longer and messages something along the lines of: BIOS has detected unsuccessful attempt at finishing POST. The harddrive works fine on other computers. Even weirder, the same drive has actually worked before on this board, as a second drive for a while but I think that I didnt have my board's drivers installed yet at the time.

I'm honestly at the end of wits to solve this puzzle. Am I not supposed to have the provided drives installed?

Intel(R) Management Engine Interface driver has failed to start

I am using intel mother board, details given below:
The issue that i am facing is Intel(R) Management Engine Interface is not getting started. I have downloaded and updated all the drivers and even i have updated the bios version as well but the issue still persists.
I have changed the Operating system as well, i have tried with windows 8 and windows 7 as well but the same issue persists on both OS.

Due to this everytime when i start the PC ethernet card is not detecting with the error "Unable to start the network adapter". So everytime i have to do uninstall the network card and do a scan for h/w changes which is really annoying!!

Please help on this matter.

Anyone else tried the 0104 BIOS? Seems to disable the onboard LAN port. Even when the port is checked in the settings. Downgraded to 0102 which works, upgraded to 0103 which also works. PCH temp still zero in all BIOS versions.
