Rear fan not spinning after wake from sleep, new Intel H87 system

$

I have a new system built on the Intel H87-based DH87MC motherboard, running Windows 7 x64. I have one front/"inlet" fan hooked up to the front fan header, and one rear/exhaust/"outlet" fan hooked up to the rear fan header. Both run fine on initial boot or restart. The front fan is non-PWM (3-pin), while the rear fan is a Noctua PWM fan (NF-P12 120mm fan).

When I wake my computer from sleep, the rear fan attempts to spin, but then just stops. All other fans (front fan, CPU, GPU) spin up just fine. I've tried turning off auto fan control in the BIOS, upping the minimum fan threshold, etc., but nothing seems to fix this one issue. I've also hooked up other fans, like 3-pin non-PWM fans, and the same thing happens.

Could this be a BIOS problem? A Windows problem? I'm pretty sure it is not a bad fan problem, as I've tried multiple fans with the same results.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Windows 8.1 update and DH77EB

Everything worked fine with Windows 8. Installing the update 8.1 did not pass. It turned out only after all the services have been disabled except for Microsoft.

When you turn on the service Intel Desktop Board FSC Application Service system stops working completely. Just reboot after safe mode and disabling the service.

What kind of service is not found. So I work without it, but in doubt ...

I need a help.

DH87RL won't POST

I recently started a build based on the Intel DH87RL.  When all memory slots are populated with 8GB sticks (32GB total) the machine fails to POST.  In fact, the machine will begin its start up sequence, run for about 10 seconds, then reboot.  After roughly 5 cycles, the machine will finally throw POST error beeps (3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, pause, 3 beeps, pause) and then finally restart the entire process again.

Interestingly, if I remove _any_ of the 4 sticks of RAM, the machine will boot fine.  The board has been flashed with the latest BIOS and the BIOS has been reset to factory defaults.  Memory tested includes Crucial Ballistix Tactical BLT2KIT8G3D1608DT1TX0 16GB 240-Pin DIMM DDR3 1600 and Crucial Ballistix Tactical Low Profile 32GB Kit (8GBx4) DDR3 1600 1.35V UDIMM 240-Pin BLT4C8G3D1608ET3LX0.

Any solutions?

DZ77ga-70k secondary SATA not working properly...

Hello,

I just plugged a hard drive into one of the secondary (Marvell) SATA slots of my DZ77GA-70k board and booted into the BIOS. I observed all of my other drives plugged into the Intel SATA ports, and I also observed the secondary SATA controller check box checked as operational, but I didn't see any devices listed there. Continuing to boot into the OS, of course the drive was invisible there as well.

I've confirmed that it's not the drive by swapping sata cables with another drive that had been plugged into an intel SATA port -- when I did that, the new drive appeared and the old one disappeared. I've also tried several different cables.

Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I have noticed that there are no Intel Mini iTX boards for Haswell CPUs.

Are they still in the making maybe?

DX79TO loading EFI partition even before One-Time Boot Menu/BIOS Setup

$

Hello,

I'm having problems, whenever I have a GPT drive connected to any port. The BIOS seems to try to boot up the EFI partition (which right now should be a clean FAT32 partition) before loading Setup, if I press F2 (or even if I toggle the Back 2 BIOS button), but after showing all the standard POST information (VGA BIOS, POST Splash Screen - with the hotkeys BEING shown, RAID BIOS), also overriding any options I may have set for boot order, and giving me a pretty ugly "A bootable device has not been detected" prompt.

The only way I've managed to get to Setup or to a Boot Menu was by unplugging the GPT drive from the board, which renders me uncapable of doing any actual maintenance on the actual boot loader problem, even if I could boot Ubuntu from a LiveCD/USB or Windows Recovery Environment.

I had been running this system without a problem ever since I had assembled it, around one year ago. I have my drive setup as follows:

256GB SSD on Port 0

1TB SATA2 on Port 1

1TB SATA2 on Port 2 (in RAID 0 with the previous one)

1.5TB SATA3 on Port 3

DVD-RAM on Port 4

nothing on Port 5

After a long time running fine on only Windows in UEFI, I decided to install Ubuntu with it on the SSD. After many unsuccessful attempts to boot back to Windows (I was able to boot up Ubuntu), I tried to mess with the EFI files manually, as it seemed like GRUB had changed some of Windows' files there. All I did was append ".grb" to GRUB's "bootx64.efi" and rename "bkpbootx64.efi" under /EFI/Boot and /EFI/Microsoft, in order to see if I could restore Windows' original bootloader, in place of GRUB, and if this way it could boot back up, and then I couldn't even get to the BIOS setup before Windows Boot Loader shows up (and this still has the same problem as before). At this moment, if I tried "Startup Recovery", it showed up a "Windows is loading files..." progress bar, and then went back to the same boot loader screen. If I tried "Startup Windows Normally", it showed "Starting Windows" for a brief moment, then showed the same "Windows is loading files..." progress and finally, left me back at whatever screen I was BEFORE the Windows Boot Loader - if I came from GRUB, it would take me to GRUB again - I could repeat the process indefinitely without rebooting; strangely, if I came straight from the One-Time Boot Menu, it would also take me back to it, but this time without any Optical Drives listed.

After only getting success on reaching BIOS Setup by unplugging the SSD itself, I've took it out, reformatted the EFI partition, and now all I get is the doomed "A bootable device has not been detected", even if I have a bootable USB device, or a bootable CD - which are both set to boot before the Hard Drives.

The SSD is the only GPT drive, all the other ones I've maintained as MBR drives.

The system specs are:

Intel DX79TO Mainboard

Intel Core i7 3930K

Markvision 4GB DDR3-1600 in Quad Channel (16GB total)

NVIDIA GeForce GTX295 (on first PCI-E slot)

Corsair 750W PSU

Has anyone got any idea on what I could try?

Thanks in advance...

Intel has no drivers for Windows 8.1

I have installed Windows 8.1 Preview on an Intel-DG33FB-based PC. The O.S. installed beautifully, but there is a yellow exclamation in Device Manager, under Unknown Devices, next to a "PCI simple communication device." This obviously refers to the Intel Management Engine Interface, which is no longer listed anywhere in Device Manager. The I.M.E.I. has no Windows 8.1 driver and none can be installed. I contacted Intel customer support. After several days of silence and not before a message to their C.E.O. I received the following reply from "Andre B." of Intel customer support:

Please take note of the fact that the board DG33FB is out of interactive support (EOIS) as stated in the notice on following webpage: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/dsktpboards/dg33fb Intel will therefore no long provide support for the DG33FB board, and no new drivers will be developed for this board. [...] Windows 8.1 preview is not a production version of Windows. Drivers are provided for production versions of validated operating systems, I regret to inform you that Intel does not provide support nor drivers for non production versions of operating systems.

I would not install Windows 8.1 Preview or any other version of Windows 8.1 on any computer system that has any Intel hardware in it until such time as Intel has released all its drivers for this operating system.

Problem with DP55SB and Gigabyte GTX 760 2GB

Hello,

I am upgrading my Intel DP55SB with a Gigabyte GTX 760 2GB video card. After adding the new card, my system no longer posts, and beeps 2x indicating a video problem. I performed all the standard troubleshooting: reseat card, verify power connections, etc.  Also, I made sure to connect an additional sata power cable to the motherboard header per the instructions manual, as required when using a PCIe card with power requirements over 75w.

My system specs:

Intel DP55SB, bios KG5926C.BIO

Intel Lynnfield 2.8Ghz

G.Skill Ripjaw 4Gb 2x2GB

Enermax Modu82+ 625W

Samsung 128GB SSD

Generic DVD ROM drive

My question: is the Intel DP55SB compatible with this video card?5SB

Thank you for any help or info you can provide.

DQ77KB supply problems?

$

A week back, I completed researching the components for a new computer, and decided to construct a computer based on the DQ77KB motherboard. I was a bit annoyed to see that the DQ77KB had increased from £100 to £120 in the UK in the previous week, but I ordered it anyway from an Ebay vendor. Despite claiming that they had despatched it, it didn't turn up, and then today they suddenly issued a refund with no explanation.

So today, I re-checked Ebay and found that (with one exception) all the vendors in the UK (and the US exporters on UK's Ebay) that had been offering the DQ77KB had withdrawn it. I checked Amazon and found that it had suddenly doubled in price to £240. Google Shopping (UK) had been offering multiple vendors last week, but the few that still list it now say they've zero stock. I've ordered it for £140 from that one remaining Ebay vendor, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it actually gets despatched, but given the behaviour of the other vendors, I'm a bit doubtful. This is really annoying because I've received all of the other components for the system, which makes it problematic to change my choice of motherboard now.

Anybody know what's going on?

DH77KC Audio issue: Constant Plug/unplug device message.

Board has been in service for almost a year with no issue.  Suddenly started getting a constant cycle of :

You just unplugged a device into the audio jack.

You just unplugged a device from the audio jack.

Every few seconds.  Happens only when something is plugged in.  Tried several different speakers/headphones with the same result so this is looking like a mainboard problem.

Anyone else seen this of have any suggestions of things to try before I RMA?

BIOS RECOVERY PROBLEM

$

Usually I'm the one who solves problems, but not this time.

I have an intel computer with windows xp on it. The power went down, and a BIOS update failed and it's giving me the repeated beep code with no screen. So I looked up how to fix it, and it tells me I need a VERY specific .BIO file, which is really hard to find. Instead of taking risks and just updating with the newest .BIO file, I turn to you. First, I need to know how to backup the BIOS in case the recovery fails and I can't redo the process. And

  • Before updating the BIOS on the Intel® Desktop Board, manually record all BIOS settings that have been changed (from default) so they can be restored after completing the BIOS update.

I"m not sure what this means, because I can't open f2 to check any of the settings.

All I really need is the correct .BIO file. Which you will tell me. I don't know which .BIO file my computer has, but you could find that.

Here are all the specs that you'll need:

Board model: DH55HC

serial number: BTHC951007KP

AA #: E70933 - 501

And just in case you need all the parts.

here is a list:

Cooler Master ELite 335 ATX w/ Elite Power 460W PSU Black

Intel Core 3.33 GHz - i5-661 8M/LGA1156 Original Boxed

Intel DH55HC w/VGA+Sound+SATA+Lan&PCI Express

Kingston 2GB DDR3-1333 PC2-1060

WD 320GB 7200RPM SATAII 16MB Hard drive

LG GH22NS50-22X DVDRW - Dual Layer SATA w/SEcureDisk

Inno3D Geforce PCX 9500GT 1GB DDR3 DUal w/TV- OUT

Samsung 2033SN+ Wide 20" LCD Monitor

Please, ask me if you need any more information. Thank you for helping me.

After updating to 0110 on a DH77KC, wake on USB (ie mouse) or PS2 (ie keyboard) no longer work, even though both are still set as enabled in BIOS.

Hi All,

I am trying to create a NAS Server and using free motherboard (DP45SG) i have for this purpose.

  I have a Core2Duo Processor and installed a Single DDR3 (4GB) RAM into DIM0 Slot.

  The memory module i am using is Crucial Ballistix DDR3 PC-10600 4GB CL9 1.5V

And the power supply (BFG) is rated at 600W.

When i powered on i don't see any thing on my monitor. All i hear is three beeps (as per the documentation it has some thing to do with the memory (i might be wrong).

I checked the following multiple times and still no luck booting the system.

  1) SPI_CON Jumper is in the correct spot. i.e, on pins 1 and 2.

  2) CMOS Jumper is also placed properly (on the bottom two pins). i.e, pins towards the battery.

As shown in the pic included/

  http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dp45sg/sb/img/jumpers.jpg

  3) BIOS Jumper is also placed correctly. i.e, on pins above the label BIOS.

any suggestions please.

Thanks

DZ68BC New Build Won't Power Up

Hi,

I am building a new PC around a DZ68BC, but I cannot get it to power up.  The reset and power switches light up when the power supply is turned on, but when I press the power switch on the motherboard, nothing happens.  I originally thought my power supply may have been underpowered (380W) so I tried a beefier one (500W) but I'm still seeing the same thing.  Is there anything else I should try, or do I have a bad board?  (Or CPU?)

Thanks,

Scott

DX79SR and issue with Desktop Utilities

$

Greetings forum members.  I have a DX79SR, on the latest bios, and am running the latest version of Desktop Utilities.  I am experiencing an issue or anomaly that you may be able to help me with.

Most of the time, the Desktop Utilities report normal temperatures, 30 to 34 degrees C, for the #1, #2 and #3 voltage regulators as well as the memory temperature.  Recently, Desktop Utilities has flagged temperatures on the #1 VR and the memory at 124 degrees C.  A quick reboot without cutting power restores these readings to the previous normal.  There seems to be no indication of overheating other than what Desktop Utilities is reporting.

Any idea if these readings are in error or are, for some reason, these two temperatures are actually spiking above boiling?  I'd appreciate your thoughts.

UEFI Motherboard Entries

Hi all

I sure this has been covered somewhere....

I have a DQ67SW board used in a system running Debian 7.1 .  Somehow I managed to get it to boot using UEFI.

I updated to the latest BIOS, now it will no longer boot under UEFI.  strangely when I removed the drive and added another blank hard drive, I still saw the debian entry as a boot option.  Where does this come from and how can I get rid of it?

Thanks...
