Rear fan not spinning after wake from sleep, new Intel H87 system

$

I have a new system built on the Intel H87-based DH87MC motherboard, running Windows 7 x64. I have one front/"inlet" fan hooked up to the front fan header, and one rear/exhaust/"outlet" fan hooked up to the rear fan header. Both run fine on initial boot or restart. The front fan is non-PWM (3-pin), while the rear fan is a Noctua PWM fan (NF-P12 120mm fan).

When I wake my computer from sleep, the rear fan attempts to spin, but then just stops. All other fans (front fan, CPU, GPU) spin up just fine. I've tried turning off auto fan control in the BIOS, upping the minimum fan threshold, etc., but nothing seems to fix this one issue. I've also hooked up other fans, like 3-pin non-PWM fans, and the same thing happens.

Could this be a BIOS problem? A Windows problem? I'm pretty sure it is not a bad fan problem, as I've tried multiple fans with the same results.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

DZ77BH-55K BIOS still ignores boot order

I recently updated the BIOS to 100.  The hard drive boot order is still ignored.

It seems if there is a drive plugged in to a Marvell SATA port, it will boot from that drive.  If not, it will boot from a drive plugged into SATA port 0.

I should mention that I can force it to boot from the drive of my choice by using the F10 key.

DZ77BH-55 BIOS update complaints

I have the latest BIOS (100).  I use the F7 method.

I press F7 and the BIOS reboots.  It then shows the typical screen again with the function key menu, including F7.  This is confusing.  If you press F7 after the reboot, the BIOS update fails.  The function key menu shouldn't be displayed after the reboot, or the function keys should be ignored at this point.  Failing that, the user should be informed not to press F7 a second time.  This could be displayed on the screen or at least should be in the Bios Update Readme pdf file.

I didn't notice this reboot during update when I had BIOS version 70 and earlier, but I know it happens with BIOS version 85 and newer.

After figuring that out and doing it correctly by not pressing F7 a second time, the BIOS updating begins.  The first thing updated is the Management Engine firmware.  While updating, there is some action showing on the screen.  It is the rotating bar thing.  This is good.  Unfortunately  the subsequent updates do not show any action.  This makes the user worry that these updates are not happening, and the process is hung.  All the updates should show some action.  Failing this, there should be no action on the screen when updating the Management Engine firmware because this leads the user to expect this action will occur on the subsequent updates.

DH55TC/WD My Passport 2TB USB3 HDD/Win8

Hello,

My Intel Board details are as follow

Product Family: Desktop Boards

Product Line: Intel® 5 Series Chipset Boards

Product Name: Intel® Desktop Board DH55TC

PROBLEM: Ever since I have installed Win8 64 bit Operating System on my Desktop my Western Digital My Passport 2 TB USB3 Hard-Drive has stopped working. It actually worked initially but then it went slow and now it gets detected in the task bar at right side bottom on the screen as a notification however in Explorer it doesn't list. Sometimes after a long wait it comes up in explorer as well and shows its content however its dead slow that when I click on any folder inside it makes the window go NOT RESPONDING.

My board has only USB2 however USB3 drives are backward compatible so it should work and it did work initially. I have done several troubleshooting steps and later on Intel's site found out that my board has gone to not supportive list so probably Windows8 drivers are not made for my board.

Anything else works on my board as I have rest all things of USB2.

What can do to fix this problem on my own as Intel will not support this.

Any help on this would be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot guys.

Best Wishes.

Hey,

I bought a bundle directly from Intel Distribution Center from the US (i7-3770K, DZ77GA-70K, 180gb ssd

520 series) and built a computer with G.Skill DDR3-1600 pc3-12800 4096MB*2 fully i-7 compatible RAM , NVIDIA GeForce GT-220 and Seasonic M12-II 520w Bronze PS.

I've installed on the system Windows 8 Version 6.2 and i have all updates installed.

I have complete 5.1 sound system connected to a receiver for amplify the whole system.

There are 3 RCA to PL(3.5mm) that connected to my computer.

1)Front

2)Rear

3)Center\LFE

The problem started long before i've installed Win8, i always had problems with this audio configuration

and i've managed to bypass this by installing an older version of Realtek HD Audio Manager and to configure "Speaker Fill"on the "Audio Manager".

With my current system, i can't install an older version of "Realtek HD Audio Manager" and also i can't configure it on the built in "Speaker Properties" that comes with Windows, because i only have a checkbox for "Disable all sound effects" on the "Enhancements" tab.

When i test the Subwoofer on the "Realtek HD Audio Manager" it works great, but the problem accures while playing music (I've tried a few players - I'm using Winamp)

Help me please! i can't hear music without my SW ! :-\

dh67bl problem after AC power renewed

$

Hello,

I have dh67bl configured so it turns on after AC power supply is lost and renewed again. It works, but very strangely. After the AC supply is renewed, bios freezes on the first intel logo screen, without any text displayed. It stays like this for ~80s, and then it continues with boot sequence normally.  Also when this happens, bios seems to ignore all settings regarding the boot sequence speedup (do not turn on graphics, USB and boot just from HDD).

I observed this behavior only after AC power is lost, when I just restart the system or turn it off and on again without AC disconnected, it boots at normal speed. Also it does not matter if I have any peripheries connected (USB, ETH) and boot order settings does not influence it neither (I have enabled only boot from HDD as #1 option).

Some details about my board

model:  dh67bl

version: aag10189-213

bios version: blh6710h.86a.0160 (newest available)

I would be grateful for any tips what might be causing the problem. Also turning on any debug messages during boot sequence would definitely help - but I have not found any switch enabling this.

thank you

DQ77KB supply problems?

A week back, I completed researching the components for a new computer, and decided to construct a computer based on the DQ77KB motherboard. I was a bit annoyed to see that the DQ77KB had increased from £100 to £120 in the UK in the previous week, but I ordered it anyway from an Ebay vendor. Despite claiming that they had despatched it, it didn't turn up, and then today they suddenly issued a refund with no explanation.

So today, I re-checked Ebay and found that (with one exception) all the vendors in the UK (and the US exporters on UK's Ebay) that had been offering the DQ77KB had withdrawn it. I checked Amazon and found that it had suddenly doubled in price to £240. Google Shopping (UK) had been offering multiple vendors last week, but the few that still list it now say they've zero stock. I've ordered it for £140 from that one remaining Ebay vendor, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if it actually gets despatched, but given the behaviour of the other vendors, I'm a bit doubtful. This is really annoying because I've received all of the other components for the system, which makes it problematic to change my choice of motherboard now.

Anybody know what's going on?

Asking this question since i have read where folks have been having issues with the latest Nvidia GTX cards like the GTX 780 and the 770 not being compatible with various Intel Motherboards. I have no intentions of updating the motherboard to the latest Intel Bios since folks are also complaining about that being a problem.

The below are my specs and i want to upgrade the present Nvidia 560ti which working fine to the EVGA GTX 770.

Case: CM Storm Enforcer Midtower/ USB3.0

CPU : i7-2600K

Mobo: Intel DZ68BC Extreme

Drawbacks of RAID versus AHCI

$

Hi.

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H / F14

On that mobo, the Intel chipset is in charge of 2 SATA3 and 4 SATA2 ports.

I use 2 of the SATA2 ports for RAID and have RAID selected for the Intel chipset in UEFI.

On port 0, I use a Samsung SSD 840.

Now ... the Samsung software Magician reports that AHCI is disabled for the SATA, which is correct.

But as far as I know, RAID includes all benefits of AHCI.

Is that correct?

These would be NCQ, TRIM, ... ?

Thanks,

DZ77BH-55K BIOS still ignores boot order

I recently updated the BIOS to 100.  The hard drive boot order is still ignored.

It seems if there is a drive plugged in to a Marvell SATA port, it will boot from that drive.  If not, it will boot from a drive plugged into SATA port 0.

Unreliable SATA disk detection with DH87RL motherboard?

$

I find that I an unable to boot from certain hard drives about 60% of the time with this motherboard.  I have the latest BIOS update and am not seeing a pattern with the drives that work or do not.  One drive is a 1TB physical disk, the other is a 25GB SSD and both are equally unreliable.

At boot I either get a message that no boot devices are detected or else everything works fine.

If I boot from another drive that works consistently, and have another that does not in another SATA port, I often do not have that other drive visible to my OS (Linux) or to the BIOS for that matter.

How can I narrow down the issue to get this fixed?

Thanks,

Rob

DH77DF microphone inputs

I was trying to use Skype and found both front and back microphone inputs not sensitive enough even with 30 dB boost. I don't thnink this has anything to do with the case, since the back input is from motherboard directly. I also tried the same headset on my Lenovo X61. It worked very well without 30 dB boost. Can someone help me on this? Thanks

New DZ87KLT-75K gives red "Power Supervisor LED" when booting and shutting down

$

My new DZ87KLT-75K has difficulty turning on. When my machine is off the red "Power Supervisor LED" is lit constantly. When I turn on my machine, I get prompted with a message telling me that the Intel Power Supervisor has detected a "Catastrophic Power Event." If I press a key at this message, the Power Supervisor LED turns off and the machine usually proceeds to POST and boot to Windows 7. Sometimes instead of booting I instead get the red Power Supervisor LED combined with the memory error beep code (three beeps, repeat). When this happens the machine turns itself off automatically. Once booted to Windows the machine seems stable with good thermals and game performance. The power supervisor LED stays off when Windows is running.

My first thought was the power supply. I have tried two Corsair AX860i PSUs so far. I RMAed the first one because I figured if the power supervisor LED is lit then it must be a problem with the PSU.  Today I got another of the same exact model, but the above symptoms persist. Corsair's website insists that this model is compatible with Haswell.

A separate but possibly related problem is that I seem unable to update the BIOS on the motherboard. I tried twice. Both times the machine shut itself off and went into BIOS recovery mode. I suspect this power problem is to blame.

Here are my full specs:

Core i7-4770K

DZ87KLT-75K

32 GB (8GB per DIMM) of Dual Channel Corsair "CMY32GX3M4A2133C11"

Nvidia Geforce GTX 780

Samsung 256GB SSD

Western Digital 2TB HDD

Corsair AX860i PSU 860 Watts

Do you think it is safe to use this machine until I get a fix for this? Could using it damage the components?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone else tried the 0104 BIOS? Seems to disable the onboard LAN port. Even when the port is checked in the settings. Downgraded to 0102 which works, upgraded to 0103 which also works. PCH temp still zero in all BIOS versions.

UEFI Motherboard Entries

Hi all

I sure this has been covered somewhere....

I have a DQ67SW board used in a system running Debian 7.1 .  Somehow I managed to get it to boot using UEFI.

I updated to the latest BIOS, now it will no longer boot under UEFI.  strangely when I removed the drive and added another blank hard drive, I still saw the debian entry as a boot option.  Where does this come from and how can I get rid of it?

Thanks...

Bios 0590 for DX79SI, SR, TO

Hi

Thanks for the latest Bios 0590

Only small issue is, that it still has the Event error ID 56:

Driver PCI returned invalid ID for a child device (FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF00)

This USB 3.0 error was fixed with the 0537 Bios.

Do you plan to include this workaround again in a future Bios update?

I am on an Intel DX79SI

Hi. With latest bios 590 this combination still does not work. I am trying to test i7-4960X on DX79SR but no luck with booting it up so far.

Any indication on future bios release, when will it support IVB-E?

Thanks

7870 and i7 HD4000 - fatal driver conflict - want to use Lucid Virtu MVP

$

Hi!

(I think) I have fatal driver conflict between 7870 and I7 3770 integrated graphics. I want to enable both to be able to use Lucid Virtu MVP in -d mode.

I can't seem to have both drivers installed and both devices enabled, as it causes immediate system crash.

ucid

If I set the integrated GPU to be the primary (in bios), the system is able to boot, but Catalyst control centre keeps yelling at me... Also, this setting is good if I want the Lucid Virtu -i option, which saves power consumption. I'd like the -d option, which improves performance, and for that to work, I'd need to set the discrete GPU to be the primary. Or am I wrong here?

What happened:

New system, clean windows install. Gigabyte Radeon 7870's driver was installed. When I have enabled the integrated GPU in the bios, Windows tried installing, and gave an error. It said something about an unsigned or corrupted driver.

After many hours and restarts, some BSODs etc, I found that setting the integrated HD4000 as primary in the bios and disabling 7870 in device manager, I was able to install the driver. After having both drivers properly installed, if I enabled both devices in Wondows Device manager, Windows immediately crashed with a BSOD. After that, Windows couldn't start (PC autorestart after windows logo, before Welcome screen).

Safe mode worked fine, and if I disabled integrated GPU in device manager, PC worked fine (no safe mode needed any more). As soon as I enabled the integrated GPU from device manager, I got BSOD.

Both drivers are the latest from manufacturer's website.

Do I have a chance of using Lucid Virtu, or these graphics hardware will never be able to play nice and work together? Do I even need to install the driver for the integrated GPU to use Lucid Virtu?

Thanks for the help!
