DH87RL no video

Hi

Just received a DH87RL. I did build a system; system did boot/BIOS splash visible.

I did update BIOS (as per Intel recommendation inserted in box) to latest BIOS, 322.

System did boot again with new BIOS/BIOS splash visible.

I entered BIOS setup (F2). Made some minor changes:

- System uses integrated gfx only, put this to enable always

- disabled audio chipset (as it is a server like setup)

- changes boot order of the HDD's

After saving BIOS/reboot, no video anymore......monitor keeps in sleep.

- When I remove the BIOS jumper, and hit F2 while booting, I do get to BIOS splash screen and then a menu to reset BIOS password (and 2 other options)

- I have tried to clear BIOS by hitting F2 - F7 - F9

- I have cleared BIOS by removing battery & jumper. I am able to get into BIOS setup; restore defaults (clock was reset - so BIOS seems to be cleared)

- I confirmed that BIOS settings were as out of the box (I checked settings I changed)

- Reboot....no video (not on HDMI, not on DVI); monitor remains in sleep

- I have removed battery for whole night. Same results...

- I have detached all sata cables...same result (no video)

- I have a HDD with Linux installed and connected to DH87RL. Looking at the HDD led, it is booting. When I put this HDD back on the old MB, I can notice in the syslog that the DH87RL did boot linux (while I don't have video)....hence, rest of system seems ok. I am stuck, as there is a configuration issue with network, and I cannot remotely ssh into system...

I have noticed many posts on BIOS issues....I only made a minor change. How come that this became a major disaster?

By the way, I did build this system per recommendation of C'T Magazine; They quoted in their article that the first MB they received died after a BIOS update....I didn't pay attention to this, but there seems to be structural issues here, also looking at many other posts.

Intel, pls provide asap a BIOS which fixes these issues. Somewhere I did read a post from Intel where they acknowledge the issue. Pls provide a timeline for a BIOS fix, otherwise I will RMA the board, which will not make Intel happy either (and me neither....)

(Another major peef....the SATA connectors are to close to the edge. If you use a SATA cable with a lock, you are never able to release the cable...unless you take the MB out....or don't use SATA cables with lock mechanism....)

Problem with HDMI audio using intel hd 4600 graphics

Hello,

I've got a huge problem regarding my hdmi audio in my intel dq87pg board. The setup is the following:

HTPC  -> Displayport to HDMI Adapter -> Onkyo AV Receiver -> TV

OS is Windows 8.1, Graphic drivers etc. are the latest.

if the TV and the AV Receiver is on when I start the HTPC, everything works fine. But if it is switched off while booting, the computer does not find any hdmi audio device when the receiver is turned on later. The same happens when av receiver is on during boot and the sound works and I restart the AV reveiver or replug the cable in between.

I've tried nearly everything, different drivers, reinstall windows etc, but nothing helps. Does anyone have a solution?

Many regards

Florian

Asking this question since i have read where folks have been having issues with the latest Nvidia GTX cards like the GTX 780 and the 770 not being compatible with various Intel Motherboards. I have no intentions of updating the motherboard to the latest Intel Bios since folks are also complaining about that being a problem.

DH87RL beeps twice after change from legacy to uefi

Hello there,

did have a lousy weekend due to a failure of this board Bios 3,17

got this board just yesterday and installed a GTS 450 Graphics, i5-4570, 8gb kingston valueram and some other components.

Everything worked until I made some BIOS settings changes (from legacy boot back to uefi boot, perhaps i deactivated internal graphics in advance)

after softreset, screen blanked and beeped twice two times. no chance to get in bios, no chance by reseating card, not even without card and internal graphics only.

So I tried to reset bios, but I think that is not working by putting out the battery.

So i tried this Bios Jumper to reset:

-> Screen didn't blank any more, short time to see the POST screen, but without ability to get in the bios.

Screen printed that I  [1] suppress this message [2] delete passwords [3] some information about TPM

So hopefully hard resetted after putting back the jumper

-> beep beep , screen blank

so what to do?

Screen blanks as soon as i put in the jumper again, without it i do not have a chance to alter bios settings...

DQ87PG Bios Support broken?

I have a new DQ87PG-Mainboard and tried to make it fit for Windows 8.1. On the Intel-Support-Site I found 6 Bios - Version 30, 35, 36, 121, 139 and 141.

My mainboard came with v. 30. I installed Win 8 and upgraded dirct to Win 8.1 - the PC worked well. Then I found Bios 139 with 8.1 support. I tried to flash Version 139 with all three methods - without succes, each with the same "FWUpdateFullBuffer" - error message. So I started to flash each version step by step. My results:

V 35 flash without error

V 36 flash without error

V 121 error - Bios file is not for DQ87PG, but for DB85FL Board

V 139 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

V 141 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

I'ts not my first experience with flashing mainboard, but I never hat such a number of problems.

The V 121 is more the a month on the support site, I found in an other discussion here a hint about this, but nothing happens.

I'm sure to maked a mistake by flashing the board! My system is plain vanilla:

DQ87PG Mainboard

I5-4670 Cpu

2*8 GB Kingston Memory

1 Samsung 849 EVO SSD-Drive

1 Plextor DVD-Drive

and it is quite good, stable an powerful.

DQ87PG restarts after shutdown

Intel DQ87PG Mainboard with WIn7 Pro x64 restarts some seconds after shutdown when HP Laserjet P2015 Printer is connected to any USB port and the Printer is powered on. When i power off the Printer before shutdown, the mobo powers off after shutdown. This behaviour is reproducable on all DQ67PG Boards i tried(5 Boards).

Switching the USB Port where the Printer is connected does not resolve this behaviour.

Any hints?

DN2800MT - system hangs at POST code EB

Dear community,

I have a DN2800MT mainboard with latest BIOS (MTCDT10N.86A.0166.2013.0427.1030)

I bought a mini-pcie wlan / bluetooth combo card ("azurewave aw-nb037h") and

the system won't boot / hangs at POST code "EB" when this card is installed.

(I noticed previous BIOS versions had a similar issue with scanners.)

As "EB" seems to indicate a problem with "USB Legacy", i disabled this option in the BIOS

when the card was unplugged. Booting with this option disabled and the card plugged

also leads to a system hang but "only" for about 1-2 Minutes.

Running "lspci" in linux adds the following line when the card is plugged:

02:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)

The output of "lsusb" however did not change. There is no sign of the bluetooth component of this combo card.

Which information do i need to provide to get this problem fixed?

Hello there,

I was wondering if you guys could help me, I configured a new computer with these configurations below:

MotherBoard: DZ77RE-75K

Processor: intel core i7 2600

Memory: 3 DIMM DDR 3 1333 4GB

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Graphic card: Point of view Geforce GT630 2GB DDR3

Font: Mymax 420W

When I have finally configured everything I installed windows 7 Home basic 64bits and then the nightmare has began!

The BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH has appeared! And than it becomes to appear any time!

First of all I have tried with other kinds of windows 7, but the problems were still happening.

I tried to install windows 8 and the same problems happened

After that I started changing some hardware.

I tried to use the windows without the graphic card, I tried to use directly by the HDMI motherboard port, but the blue screen happened once more.

I tried to clean the memories, the graphic card, and also change the memory, but nothing changed.

I tried to use the windows with another font (500W), but the same problems happened

I also tried to install the motherboards drivers and the graphic card drivers, but some times the blue screen appeared and interrupted everything.

I have a picture of the Blue Screen of Death.

I don't know WHAT to DO ANYMORE!

Please help me! Is it a problem with my motherboard and processor?

DB85FL - No video card error when installing video card

After installing win 8.1 pro on my board and have it working, I then install a video card and made some tweaks in bios and now it boots with error beeps (two beeps - pause - two beeps)

I remove bios jumper and it still beeps

I pull video card and it boots fine.

I reinstall card and it boots fine.  Win 8.1 pro says secure boot misconfigured and I go back into bios and enable secureboot only and now it is giving me no video error beeps again.  but this time it continues to boot and I get the desktop just fine.

Now I can get into bios as there is no video.  I try pulling power cord and wait for the motherboard led to go out, then I replug in power and hold the power switch for a second or two until it beeps, which is suppose to clear bios, but I still get the video error and I still can get into the bios.

I even tried switching monitor to integrated video and still get no video beeps.

I installed the latest bios (19) first thing when I got the board.

My video card is an evga gtx 650 superclocked (01G-P4-2652-KR) if this matters any.

I have an Intel Desktop Board DB75EN, running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro.  Everything is up to date.

All of the USB ports are dead, except for my USB mouse on a front port.

I tried removing all of the items listed under USB controllers, and rebooted, many times.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

Thank you for your help.

Automatically Turning on Core i7 4770K processor - DZ87KLT-75K Motherboard

Dear People!

I recently assembled with Core i7 4770K processor - DZ87KLT-75K Motherboard,

the problem is when I shut down my computer it's 1, automatically turning on

2, when it's become sleep mode after that I must restart the computer otherwise it won't work properly (the mouse will stuck even the sound also will get disturbance)

DH87RL won't boot with 4 Sata drives connected

$

I recently built a new system with an Intel DH87RL motherboard and i3-4330 CPU. The primary boot drive is a Samsung 840 SSD and with a Pioneer BD-RE optical drive as an alternate boot.  It is setup in UEFI mode, and it runs Windows 8.1 x64 with no problems.  My issue started when I added two 750 GB Samsung hard drives from an older build into the new PC.  With both 750 GB drives connected, the system freezes every time at the initial boot screen that displays the Intel logo and F2 = Setup, F7 = Update BIOS, F10 = Boot Menu screen.  If I disconnect either 750 GB drive, the system boots flawlessly.  I updated the BIOS to the Dec 4 2013 release from the Intel website, but no change.  I don't believe that its a power supply issue since the supply is 450 Watt and the new Intel hardware is very low power, both drives spin up properly, and the system boots with both drives powered, but only 1 of the drive(s) sata cable  connected.

I also tried switching to legacy boot, but that mode wants to boot partition 0 on my SSD, where UEFI boots partition 1, so there is no bootloader for Windows on partition 0.  The message "unable to locate any bootable partitions" is displayed repeatedly.  For a system that works so well with 2 or 3 drives connected, I just don't understand what causes it to freeze on the 4th drive, I guess if I can't solve this problem, my only choice will be a new 3 or 4 TB hard disk to replace the dual 750 GB drives.  It seems a shame since they still function flawlessly.

Anyone who has ever experienced a problem like this, I would greatly appreciate any help, thanks.

Is Intel SMBus associated with Desktop Utilities?

$

I used to have Desktop Utilities installed on my PCs, but I got tired of the icon being screwed up after certain system changes -- the most recent was simply copying a song onto the system -- not to mention the extra time it requires on start-up.  So I uninstalled it.  Then I looked at the list of installed Intel programs and saw Intel SMBus.  Is this associated with Desktop Utilities, in other words, can I uninstall it with no impact?  Or is it essential for other Intel functionality?

The systems are DH67CL, i5-2500K, running VIRTU with ASUS video card, Windows 7 Pro with all updates.

Hi!

Just one word before: english isn't my native language, so please excuse bad grammar by me. Unfortunately online translators are way to back to translate readable stuff.

I have a load of problems with the board above since i bought it.

- Yes, of course the used psu is compatible.

- The used Kingston RAM worked like charme in different Sandy Bridge systems.

Yes, i am an experienced pc user and built systems since the Intel 80286 AT (NEAT) era.

The problems with the above board raised since updating the bios to the current version of 0152.

System Specification

====================

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Pro (x86-64)

Mainboard: Intel DH87MC // BIOS 0152

CPU: Intel i7-4770

RAM: 2x Kingston Value RAM (KVR1333D3N9K2/8G), JEDEC standard

dGPU: NVIDIA GEForce GTX 760

PSU: Antec TruPower 550

Display: HP w2448hc (HDMI connected to iGPU / DVI connected to dGPU) - not using softwarecrap like Lucid.

Low Priority

====================

1. The written versions in the bios readme are inconsistent. The summary on top doesn't reflect the versions within the description of the online-manual (VBIOS, GOP) http://downloadmirror.intel.com/23454/eng/MC_0152_ReleaseNotes.pdf

Medium Priority (since BIOS 0152)

====================

1. Wrong memory temperature: The mainboard is talking about 108 °C degree of the memory, which is totally wrong.

2. Not working limits for CPU-, Inlet- and Outlet-Fans anymore on Auto-Mode (it worked before the bios upgrade - for now i have to live with manual setting).

Medium Priority (since beginning)

====================

1. Haswell i7-4770 isn't able to use 4x Kingston Value RAM (KVR1333D3N9K2/8G) anymore. Using 4 memory slots leads to blackscreens after power on, freezes and reboots. The rams are fine anyway, i can exchange 'em as i want: 2 are fine, 4 are not working. The Haswell memorycontroller is a pain!

The same memory part's worked like charme on all of my i5-2500K (DH67BL) and i3-2105 (DQ67OW, DH67CF) and i3-550 (DH55TC) systems.

2. Using Native PCIe ASPM OS Management in Virtual BIOS leads to an extremely instable system. Freezing while working (not easy to reproduce) and freezing after standby (reproducable every time) leads to a non working system. The psu is well enough - it happen's even with C6 disabled and unpopulated PCIe/PCI Slots.

The both bugs before were so annoying that i already was thinking about sending the cpu and mainboard back to the reseller. It tooks HOURS to get the system running, even with placing recoverymode jumpers there were no picture available with used 4 ram slots.

High Priority (since HD Graphics Driver 10.18.10.3345)

====================

This is a special one, not many people will experience it.

I have connected my HP w2448hc display twice with my system. Via HDMI to the Haswell iGPU 4600 (including audio) and via DVI to the GEForce GTX 760 (excluding audio).

I like the QuickSync Feature and the power of 3D applications. The Haswell 4600 is a good one, but not comparable to a GTX 760.

Before upgrading the HD Graphics driver i could switch on the display between iGPU and dGPU without any problem. The active GPU was the primary one and worked fine.

After upgrading the driver (even a clean un-(install) in windows-safe mode) this didn't worked errorfree anymore.

- If i start with HDMI (iGPU) selected:

System starts up fine, Intel HDMI Audio is available, dGPU is as extended part available - this is perfect.

- If i switch to DVI (dGPU):

dGPU (GEForce GTX 760) is now the primary one, Intel HD 4600 (and audio) are disabled - this is fine too.

- If i switch back to HDMI (iGPU):

Although iGPU Video is available, the Intel HDMI Audio is NOT available anymore. The devicemanager shows an exclamationmark. It can't be started until rebooting the whole machine again.

This worked errorfree on the previous driver. Unfortunately a driver rollback doesn't work anymore, even after a clean uninstall. The new driver has something changed in the os which i can not identify.

Btw., the same new driver makes problems on hdmi / dvi connections on DH67BL, DH67CF and DQ67OW machines too. Installing this driver leads to a blackscreen. Only solution ist to replug the connection cable between machine and display. A driver downgrade via windows-safeboot doesn't help here, because the new driver is changing something, what it should NOT do (perhaps BIOS? system drivers? registry?).

--------------------

To be honest, i am very disappointed with the lack of support of the new generation of mainboards. While the x6x productline was an example for high quality support, the x8x line is a complete different thing.

I've planned to replace all of the sandy bridge and clarkdale systems to a haswell based one (10 pc's - i love those machines and home theater pc's, server services etc.) - but with my experiences until now i will not buy a haswell (refresh) based system anymore. Way too much bugs and way to bad support and driver quality now. I never experienced this with intel products anytime before - this is nearly amd style. -.-

PS: I don't think we have to "reproduce" any steps after this clear description and can inform the engineers directly. Do you agree?
