DQ87PG restarts after shutdown

$

Intel DQ87PG Mainboard with WIn7 Pro x64 restarts some seconds after shutdown when HP Laserjet P2015 Printer is connected to any USB port and the Printer is powered on. When i power off the Printer before shutdown, the mobo powers off after shutdown. This behaviour is reproducable on all DQ67PG Boards i tried(5 Boards).

Switching the USB Port where the Printer is connected does not resolve this behaviour.

Any hints?

Cooling assistant, CPU fan issue

$

Running a i4770 on a DH87RL board, with latest bios (320)

Using an PWM cooler from Noctua NH-12S (which received positive reviews from a number of magazines).

My problem: the mainboard doesn't seem to control the fan(s) properly.

When I use factory settings (setting "Quite(0) in cooling assistant) the CPU fan starts with about 300rpm and stays there. Case fase are running with 600-700 rpm.

When I put the CPU under stress, its temperature goes up to 80 C without the fans ever speeding up. Then the thermal throttle sets in.

With any different setting in cooling assistant (e.g. "Cooling Assistant(1)"), the fans start with full speed (1500rpm for CPU, >1000rpm for front and rear), even when the machine is idle (or is in the BIOS screen).

Now the CPU stays below 60C even under full load, but it's somewhat loud and I really would like to have proper thermal management.

RPM and temperature sensors seem to work correctly.

I noticed that the BIOS cooling assistant graphics seems inconsistent at times. If you adjust the temperature curves and switch to another tab and then back, the curves are not remembered correctly.

Is this a known BIOS issue?

DZ87KLT-75K, Memory Issues Due To BIOS Issues *BIOS 0446*

I don't need to say much but many know the Board has memory issues on way or the other the recent being in the latest BIOS 0446, I have 32GB in 4 x 8GB setup, but been having issue running XMP 1.3 1600 plus after several cold boots (Power Cycles) eg 4 or so the board will decide to drop the XMP settings or any memory frequency above 1333 set whichever way be it manual or through overclock assistant, it drops the settings and setts back to default 1333 till you sett it all over again and after few power cycles the three beeps and a reset to default again. Problem was on all previous BIOS versions 0336, 0344, 0346 and now on 0446.

Only now the issue can clearly be seen on 0446 when the memory settings are dropped in favor of default settings after several power cycles, the board decides to shave of 8GB of my memory and display 24GB in the first page when BIOS is entered after the three beep error 24GB instead of 32GB and if you check the inner main page it still shows 32GB but with settings on default.

INTEL FIX THE ISSUES, the board is good only the Memory issues in BIOS are letting it down.

Plus on BIOS 0446 The memory latency has deteriorated i don't know why but it has worse latency compared to previous BIOS before the new 0446.

DQ87PG Bios Support broken?

$

I have a new DQ87PG-Mainboard and tried to make it fit for Windows 8.1. On the Intel-Support-Site I found 6 Bios - Version 30, 35, 36, 121, 139 and 141.

My mainboard came with v. 30. I installed Win 8 and upgraded dirct to Win 8.1 - the PC worked well. Then I found Bios 139 with 8.1 support. I tried to flash Version 139 with all three methods - without succes, each with the same "FWUpdateFullBuffer" - error message. So I started to flash each version step by step. My results:

V 35 flash without error

V 36 flash without error

V 121 error - Bios file is not for DQ87PG, but for DB85FL Board

V 139 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

V 141 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

I'ts not my first experience with flashing mainboard, but I never hat such a number of problems.

The V 121 is more the a month on the support site, I found in an other discussion here a hint about this, but nothing happens.

I'm sure to maked a mistake by flashing the board! My system is plain vanilla:

DQ87PG Mainboard

I5-4670 Cpu

2*8 GB Kingston Memory

1 Samsung 849 EVO SSD-Drive

1 Plextor DVD-Drive

and it is quite good, stable an powerful.

D510MO No Post, No Boot, No Video. Dead?

Hi all,

I have an Intel D510MO board which seems to have died.

The board lights up (LED on board), the drives sound like they are starting up and the keyboard lights flash on on startup, but there is no other sign of life (except the processor is warm, indicating some kind of activity).

I initially thought that it could be the video chip, so tried a PCI graphics card, but still no video output.

I have tried a different PSU and one I know definitely works OK, and still no change.

Is there anything further I can do with it or is it toast? I'm not sure if there are any BIOS checks I can do if there appears to be so little life in the unit...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance and Merry Xmas!

DH77DF onboard video problems

I have a dh77df with a Pentium G2120 CPU running Windows 7. I cannot boot into Windows unless I have a graphics card installed. Using the onboard graphics I can get to the "Starting Windows" screen then it immediately reboots. The same thing in Safe Mode. With the graphics card installed it boots fine. I have tried updating the graphics drivers but no matter which one I try the installation fails "does not meet minimum requirements".

DZ87KLT-75K Problems (A6-40, BIOS updating)

Hi there,

I just recently updated to an Intel DZ87KLT-75K and am having a few problems. First of all, I can't update the BIOS to 0344, because if I do, I can not see the BIOS screen. My computer still boots just fine, however, when I try to get to BIOS setup, I cannot see the BIOS screen. I have read about some similar problems on ASUS boards, and they seem to say the video is having a handshake problem with the monitor, making the BIOS screen unreadable. I am having a similar problem. Also, like some other people, I am getting the A6 40 error code on my post code lcd. This seems to say that my main NIC isn't working, and I can make it work by 1: Going to the BIOS and saving and exiting, or 2: unplugging the computer and losing power to the motherboard. If anyone could provide some insight to these problems, that would be great.

Some additional information:

Newer monitors, 2 different resolutions, 1440p and 1600x900. Have tried both, 1 and the other. Both DVI connection

AMD 7970.

RAM is fine and tested.

Have tried updating the BIOS both from the .exe and from the F7.

Power supply is great, tested on 2 other machines.

Also, was having problems with self-restart before I turned off "Wake from LAN" in the BIOS. Now don't have that problem.

DZ87KLT-75k does not show bios anymore.

Hi all,

After I unchecked "Legacy Boot", only boot via UEFI, my board stop to show the bios screen. Has someone have same issue?

I've tried to hard bios reset, but i can't do.  How can I do a hard reset on this board?

I've have already updated for this bios version: KL0446.BIO

Thanks,

Fabricio

IDH67BL - Help with failing RAID

$

Hello.

Some time ago, about a year, I set up a RAID 5 with three 2TB Seagate SATA II discs, using the RAID controller which comes with the IDH67BL board. This was for a home server runnin Ubuntu server 12.10.

Yesterday, the server stopped booting ...
After booting with a live cd, I could see that SMART check of one of the disks was reporting bad sectors and that have had overheating in the past ...

I ran the SMART self-test for the three discs and two reported as OK, with one reporting as failed ( read errors ).

From the live cd I can mount the RAID, but when I try to access some files, it gives me a read error ....

My questions are:
1. If only one drive is reporting errors: why the machine is not booting and I can't access the data? Doesn't a RAID5 should keep working but in a degraded mode?
1b. Does this mean that surely one of the other discs also have problems?

2. How can I be sure that the data of the two disks, for which the SMART self-test reports as OK, its really OK?

3. What would be the steps to restore the RAID (if it is possible at all)? Is it enough to remove the failed disk and install another ?

Thank you very much .

Regards,
Germán

Startup problem on DN2800MT

HI Experts,

I have been using a DN2800MT successfully some time as an on board computer on my boat.

Earlier this year it started to become unreliable. After contacting the supplier and others I have got nowhere.

Firstly, the board is designed to run over a wide voltage range (8-19 VDC) I am using 14.2Volts on a DC-DC regulated PSU.

On occasions the board will not start (when the On -Off button is pressed there is no response!) the power is reaching the motherboard as the green standby LED on the PCB is illuminated. I have tested the power switch and it is fine.

After much head scratching, I find that if I "Power up" and leave the computer in its standby state for a few minutes, it powers up and runs fine, it will even shut down and start up as required, so long as the PSU is not turned off.

I am now totally confused and hoping that someone has come across this fault or can offer some advice.

Regards and Merry Christmas

Nigel

DZ68DB motherboard - System will not shutdown but reboots instead

$

I bought an Intel DZ68DB motherboard and a i5-2500k CPU. My previous motherboard and CPU were Intel as well. I installed Windows 7 64-bit on it and the PC WILL NOT STAY IN SLEEP, HYBERNATION OR POWERED OFF. When I try to do any of those things, it simply powers off for a few seconds and then boots right back up. I've googled and tried everything I could including installing all latest drivers and bios as well as disabling devices to wake from sleep. I also fiddled with cmd: powercfg options which states that S1 and S2 are unavailable. I then performed a fresh install of Windows 7 without loading or updating anything with all usb devices unplugged. The "sleep" button is greyed out in the start menu. When I put PC to sleep, it again boots right back up. This leads me to believe that it a bios issue but I don't see where to enable sleep in the intel mobo's bios settings. Any suggestions?

Recently it is showing MCH or IOHub overheating. It is also showing fan not running error but fan is running.  I am hesitant to use it as three hard disks burned inside it and stopped working.  How can I make it run without these problems.

Hi.

Is there a difference in the power consumption between DH87RL and DH87MC?

The c't magazine has build a 10W PC with the DH87RL:

Intel DH87RL

Intel Core i5-4570

8GByte (PC3-12600)

SSD Samsung 840 250 GB

Enermax Triathlor EWL300AWT

Will Ihave the sameenergy consumption with the DH87MC?

It offers moreupgrade options (Slots).

Is therea motherboardthatconsumes even lessenergy?

Thanks,
