Win 8.1 on older 1156 DP55KG

Is anyone running windows 8.1 on an older 1156 Board? I have the DP55KG and just bought a bigger SSD to put in my system and thought I would try 8.1 since I got a good deal on it. I never though about the compatability with this older board now that it has not been updated with bios or drivers in over 2 years. Thoughts?

Have a beeping problem with new ram memory - 4gb.

beeping , and no display.

Mother board: https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/motherboards/desktop-motherb...

According to this, my destop board could accept memory stick, but pratically not.

Ram sticks  : http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR13n9s8_4.pdf

I have two of these rams and both news. I dont think they are broken.

I  just put one in A place , not two in A and B place , because in information was written max - 4gb.

Now pc working with 2x1gb ram sticks. 1333 Mhz  Memory default (5-5-5-15)

Any suggestions, questions or solutions of problem?

Someone has write that:

"And you are right, it supports DDR3-1066/800 - not 1333

It was just a pure chance that your 1 GB 1333 MHz modules worked - sometimes higher frequency RAM will downclock and run - that does not mean that all 2 GB 1333 MHz should work. This is why you are hearing the beep and having other problems.

Please change over to either 1033 or 800 MHz RAM per Intel board specs. Then you can use 2 x 2 GB modules for a total of 4 GBs.""

It can be or not? Please help.

Hi All,

I have problems with the my PCI OpRom device driver on some platforms.

Driver executing successfully on the DG41TX motherboard, but on the DH67BL and DH77EB driver does not loading from OpRom on the PCIe card (even entrypoint does not executing).

Boot process not freezing and UEFI Shell from USB pen loading successfully after platform initialization.

With "loadpcirom" command from UEFI shell my driver executing successfully on any platforms.

Maybe problem is platform policy?

Can the platform completely ignore UEFI OpRom drivers?

Thanks, Vladimir.

I currently have a Intel DP67BG motherboard. For some reason during the boot sequence my video goes out. Computer powers on, I can see the bios Splash screen, Display goes black, Comes back on when windows launches.

This happens for both a VGA and HDMI connection. I have tried to go into my bios screen and anytime I try to access the configuration tab in my bios, The screen goes Black. How can this be fixed?

Intel DZ87KLT-75K gives "CPU hot" error fresh out the box

I have a new Intel DZ87KLT-75K motherboard with an i7-4770K processor that won't boot.  I have seen two other posts of similar, but different issues.

Everything is new out of boxes and I am very careful with ESD working on nonconductive surfaces.

When I try to start up, I press the power button,  the system tries to start, the fans start up and then the "CPU hot" lights up and the system shuts off, and tries to power up again, the fans go on, the "CPU hot" light goes on and shuts off again, and system tries to power on again, and this will continue until I turn off power to the system.  There are no beeps, and the LED displays only show zeroes.

I pulled everything apart and put it back together again and the problem still remains.  Even tried getting into BIOS with just processor/heatsink and 1 RAM, but won't get past this.

Any suggestions?

Intel DP45SG posting error code B2

$
0
0

Evening,

Have an Intel DP45SG (AA E27733-402) board that now refuses to POST past code B2. I can't get into the BIOS at all and restarting has no effect either warm or cold. BIOS recovery up or down has no effect nor does clearing the CMOS (jumper or pulling battery). I do get the first beep when switching on the machine which starts the posting sequence but not any further then B2.

Posting code B2 is: Detecting presence of a fixed media (IDE hard drive detection etc.). My Google-fu failed to make sense of the post code, given there are no IDE connection on the board to begin with (and I didn't hook up the SATA optical or hard drives at this stage either), and others that had experienced a same code, removed the last piece of hardware to get their system work again.

After the first BIOS recover I did get posting code BC (removable media) which when I removed the USB stick solved that issue but then went to B2 again and since then, even with subsequent BIOS changes.

Recently the system was functioning fine on the latest and last BIOS (0125) with a C2 E8400, 4 x 2GB of compatible RAM (DDR3 v1.5 PC3-10600 1333MHz) with crossfire ATI 5850's and a Antec True power 650w PSU.

I tried upgrading the CPU to a C2 Q9400 (SLB6B) and changing the PSU to a Corsair TX750 but the system refused to display anything. I also tried changing the case as well at the same time.

I bread boarded the mobo and stripped everything down to just the new CPU + fan, RAM, 1x video and new PSU with no change to the booting or posting. Plugging in the old original PSU (Antec 650w), everything worked fine (and I should have stopped there it seemed).

I tried Google-fu'ing the issue without success, as mentioned, with the exception of resetting the CMOS (both via the jumper and/or removing the battery) to reset the information held by the mobo. In hindsight, this was probably a mistake as now it's not working at all.

The mobo will give the 3 beeps when there is no RAM installed and I tried each stick of RAM in each of the 4 slots without any change to the posting code. I have re-rest the CMOS (jumper and removing battery (from 5 mins to 24 hours without the PSU attached)) and down/upgraded the BIOS (via USB recovery) with no change in the outcomes.

Each of the components work fine in other systems which make me think the mobo is no longer viable now for some unknown reason. I have tried several other components; C2 E6750, C2 E8500, both ATI 5850's and a Nvidia EN8500GT silent, a single stick to all 4 sticks of RAM (in various slots), an Antec 430w, the original Antec 650w and the new Corsair 750w PSU's with no change in out come at all.

I tried re-connecting both a SATA optical and hard drive (singularly and then together), to see if that magically did anything as it was looking 'fixed media', as well as a USB stick with no change to the posting code unfortunately. Even unplugging the USB keyboard had no effect to the posting code.

Currently installed is the Q9400 plus stock fan, 1 x 2GB stick of RAM, EN 8500GT, and the Antec 650w on BIOS 0083.

I'm hoping someone on here with fresh eyes can't assist me with this as its driving me nuts! It was all working until I cleared the CMOS which shouldn't have caused any issues apart from losing settings.

Thanks.

XP/Pro to Win7/Pro 64 Bit With New Drives - What Comes First?

$

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P (rev. 2.1) MOBO in a 6-year-old built to order machine that I'm upgrading from XP/Pro to Win7/Pro.

It has these specs.  Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz) Quad Core. The MOBO includes SATAII. It has the Intel P35 chipset in the North Bridge (2 GSATA ports) and Intel ICH9R in the South Bridge (6 SATAII ports. It has 8 GB of DDRII 800 memory.

My current configuration has XP and my program files on two 74 GB WD Raptor drives in RAID1 and two 500 GB WD Caviar Caviar SE16 drives also in RAID1.

The CMOS setting for SATA RAID/AHCI Mode is RAID. (Aside: Damn it would be useful to have a log file of all my current CMOS settings. I don't do this every day, and shutting down just so I can reboot and enter settings to check a setting and maybe document it with a digital photo is a PITA. Has anyone ever figured out how to gather this information into a log?)

I want to replace the Raptor drives with two 128 GB Crucial M550 SSD drives and install Win7 64bit in RAID1. I will keep my data drives in RAID1 during the process.

What I've read suggests that the order in which I do things could make my new installation relatively pain free or very complex.

I know that the RAID1 software I am using is here:

C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology

It was installed by the custom builder (GamePC/SolidElectric of Palo Alto, CA.) I don't find a CD for the software.

Will I need to download software from Intel that is Win7 64bit compatible? Will my 74-year-old brain be able to readily understand the options I might encounter during installation?

It is clear to me that I will also need a 64 bit driver. Which should I download?

Should all of this be available on a flash drive?

My current drive C: will be unavailable during the Windows installation process so I won't have access to the program I've been using. I doubt it would run under Win7 64bit anyway.

I would very much appreciate a straightforward explanation of the steps I should take to accomplish my goal. I’ve been very happy with the service that Rapid Storage Technology has given me.

I've asked for help on other forums and encountered replies like these. "Why would you want to do that?" "RAID1 is not a backup solution." They are not much help to me.

Thanks,

Problem with HDMI audio using intel hd 4600 graphics

$

Hello,

I've got a huge problem regarding my hdmi audio in my intel dq87pg board. The setup is the following:

HTPC  -> Displayport to HDMI Adapter -> Onkyo AV Receiver -> TV

OS is Windows 8.1, Graphic drivers etc. are the latest.

if the TV and the AV Receiver is on when I start the HTPC, everything works fine. But if it is switched off while booting, the computer does not find any hdmi audio device when the receiver is turned on later. The same happens when av receiver is on during boot and the sound works and I restart the AV reveiver or replug the cable in between.

I've tried nearly everything, different drivers, reinstall windows etc, but nothing helps. Does anyone have a solution?

Many regards

Florian

Hello,

the process igfxsrvc.exe is apparently part of the Intel Common User Interface and in use/started when I perform a right click on the desktop which causes an annoying delay of about 2 seconds while opening the context menu.

What is that process for?

Can I disable it or is there another way to avoid the delay?

DX79TO Will Light Up but Will Not Power On

My DX79TO motherboard was working fine and then the cpu just shut off for no reason. Now the CPU will not turn on. The CPU fan, nor any of the devices will react to me pressing the power button on. The lights on the motherboard do light up on the inside, including the Ethernet when connected to the modem. The power button and reset button are lit and so is a green light beside the power button lit. It looks like the green light is over the standby. I have no clue what happened.

Fan Control in Intel Visual BIOS

Hi,

I hope someone can give me some clue on how to properly use the cooling menu to config chassis / cpu fans in Intel Visual BIOS. It seems details were not given in the motherboard's technical specs or anywhere from Intel web site.

I've just purchased a DH87MC today and would like to config my fan to STOP / IDLE when the system temperature is low enough. I have no clue how to set it with "auto" mode, and when I tried with "manual" and set the duty cycle to 0%, the fans are still running.

Before I change to Intel Board, I was able to set fan speed on other boards with software like SpeedFan.  I hope Intel Board can do this within BIOS so that I don't need to keep a software running at the background just for controlling fan speeds...

Thanks!

Model no. OptiPlex 755 main board?

Hello,

What is the model number of the OptiPlex 755 mini tower's main board?  I haven't been able to find this on Intel's site.

I've just acquired an OptiPlex 755 minitower computer that's intact and working.  But I also have a DP965LT main board that has a bad #4 ram slot.  I believe that all of its components are good and would like to put the processsor, a Core 2 Duo quad, 2.4GHz, and ram, DDR2 PC6400 800MHz, into the 755's main board.  But I can't find its model number so as to tell what it'll take.

I sure will appreciate your help.  Thanks.

DX79SI Resume error...fimrware did not preserve the memory map...

Hi folks,

My DX79SI has always had a recurring problem resuming from hibernation, Windows reports the "your firmware did not preserve the memory map...blah blah". Generally if I let it continue it works fine but lately I am having trouble with USB disks afterward.

Any ideas how to get rid of this. I have been through numerous BIOS settings and Windows settings. powercfg says only S3 state is supported (Hybrid Sleep). So, do I need to only do hybrid?

I have the latest BIOS.

DZ87KLT-75K Super I/O overheating

$

Hello and thanks in advance for any help that is offered.

I have recently spent a considerably large amount of funds to build a

DZ87klt-75k w/

i7 4770k processor

series 520 240gb ssd (OS)

Hitachi 1TB HD (data)

G-skill 32g 2800 ram (from memory test list)

Gigabyte 7950 HD graphics card

Rosewill lightning 1300w psu*

Thermaltake VL800 series V3 black chassis

(4) 140mm 2400rpm exhaust fans (includes psu exhaust)

(2) 140mm 2400rpm intake fans

(1) side chassis free air inlet

(2) peripheral (dvd/cd) open slot free air inlet

*yes this is not a "approved" psu and I have the power off restart issue..... whatever... not my biggest issue.

The issue I am having that the Super I/O chipset "Z87" is giving constant and repeated overheating warnings after only minutes of game play. I have done a lot of research on this and for some reason I can find no data about it. I KNOW I am not special.....

Things I have noticed in my researching include that the primary pci x16 slot for graphics centers the higher level cards directly over the Si/o heat sink, is this intentional to monitor graphics temps by the MB? Sure does not make sense due to the heat generation of high level graphics.

p.s. the graphics card is having zero overheating issues

The next thing I noticed was that the "aftermarket" dz87 vendors are replacing the z87 heat sink (and others) with much more robust and even fan cooled options. This indicates to me that the overheat issue on this aspect has actually been noted and that solutions are being engineered for their boards.

The last thing I found, which brought me here for help, is that there seems to be no fix for this for those of us that have purchased this board as it was originally designed (from Intel ). Please consider I have researched this, these "after market" vendors also sell not "upgrade" option for individual sale to supplement what seems to me to be an oversight in design.

Is there any advice that can be offered for this, I would hope others may find it useful as well? Again, thank you for any help that can be offered, my apologies if this is a difficult one to answer.

DZ87KLT-75K

First off, I just want to say how sad I am to hear that the DZ87KLT-75K is going to be Intel's last motherboard.  I've owned several over the years, and they've provided me rock-solid stability to the point where I use them until they become obsolete with very few problems.

Just completed a new build this weekend and went to go get the drivers installed for this motherboard for Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, and it appears that most of the drivers are already rolled-up into Windows - cool.  The three devices I'm having issues with are:

(All showing yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager.)

  • Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus

Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

          HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0899&SUBSYS_80862046&REV_1000\4&3B8CA585&0&0201

Attempting to install drivers (AUD_Win8.1_Win8_Win7_XP_6.0.1.7040) off of Intel site eventually gives:

Realtek High Definition Audio Driver - InstallShield Wizard

Install Realtek HD Audio Driver Failure !!

          [Error Code: 0xE0000246]

And that error traces back to the following from Technet:

3758096966 (0xE0000246) Device Installer Not Ready

           Cause

A class installer or a co-installer for a service cannot run because a component on which it depends did not run.

  • PCI Simple Communications Controller

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

          PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_20468086&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0

Attempting to install drivers for Intel(R) Management Engine Interface (MEI_Win8.1_1.5M_9.5.15.1730_PV) off of Intel site eventually gives:

The setup program failed to install one or more device drivers.

          Setup will exit.

(Intel Installation Framework page shows "Installing Driver: Intel(R) Management Engine Interface - Version 9.5.15.1730")

  • SM Bus Controller

Reinstall the drivers for this device. (Code 18)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

          PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_20468086&REV_04\3&11583659&0&FB

Attempting to install drivers for associated package (IDU_3.2.8.089 containing smbus drivers) off of Intel site eventually gives:

          An unknown error has occurred.

          Setup will exit.

(Intel SMBus window shows "Installing Driver: Intel PCH SMBus Controller - 8C22 (Intel SMBus 2.0 Driver) - Version 6.9.1.1")

The Audio Device is obviously the Realtek, because I had it disabled in the BIOS from the start prior to the Windows clean-installation, and only just enabled it after the second two drivers showed the driver failure in Device Manager.

I'm concerned, based on the errors I've received installing most (90%) of the drivers marked for Windows 8.1 64-bit on the Intel web-site under my motherboard, that I may be missing some crucial main chipset driver, which is holding all of these other drivers and software application packages back.

Here's my hardware configuration:

1)  Intel DZ87KLT-75K Motherboard with: AA G74721-305 - BIOS is current: KLZ8711D.86A 2/17/2014 0450

2)  Intel i7-4771 (Stock heat-sink and fan from retail packaging)

3)  Seasonic X-Series Gold 80 850W Power Supply

4)  Kingston Hyper-X 4x 8GB DIMMs (2x 1600 CL10 240-Pin UDIMM Kit - KHX1600C10D3B1K2/16G)

5)  Four SSD (500/256/256/128), Two SATA 4TB Seagate drives.

6)  XFX R9 280 Black OC Edition Graphics Card

7)  Corsair Obsidian 650D with two 200mm fans, and one 100mm fan.

I've ran burn-in tests for an hour or so, and temperatures seem within the happy range on all devices monitored.

Please let me know how I can fix these errors, as I'd rather not put this system into production as my main workstation if I have to rip it apart to replace the mainboard.
