DZ87KLT-75K: Continuous Restart Boot Code 0x55

$

Hi and thanks for the help!

I have a machine that has been working for the past week without a single issue. On Friday night I restarted the machine and have not been able to boot it since. The machine powers on and starts a boot sequence, but nothing shows up on the monitor and eventually the machine will power down and restart itself.

When the machine is booting it gets hung up on a boot code of 0x55 for about 10 seconds and then restarts. This usually continues indefinitely. I have gotten a 3 beep code a couple of times, but not every time. Everything else seems normal - I even see the Memory Init LED blink quickly and then stay solid green.

Here's a few things I've tried with no luck

- I've tried removing power and the BIOS battery overnight.

- I removed the graphics card, hard drives, and all connections to the motherboard besides power and 1 RAM stick.

Specs:

- PS: Corsair AX860

- RAM (x4): G.Skill SNIPER, DDR3 1866, 8GB (F3-1866C10Q-32GSR)

Like I said above, this had been working just fine before suddenly stopping one reset and hasn't recovered since. Any guidance, known issues, or suggestions for other things to try is greatly appreciated.

DX79SR and USB 3.0 Firmware Updates

I'm sure like most of you, your USB 3.0 ports are not working under Windows 8.  When I saw the firmware updates dated 5/9/2013, I thought finally.  Well after installing the update I can say they still don't work.  I install both updates, front and rear.  The front update processes fine...and those ports may work, but I don't have them hooked up.  The rear update throws the message Device not found!USB.PNG

Any help to get this working under Windows 8, would be much appreciated.

DX79SI Resume error...fimrware did not preserve the memory map...

Hi folks,

My DX79SI has always had a recurring problem resuming from hibernation, Windows reports the "your firmware did not preserve the memory map...blah blah". Generally if I let it continue it works fine but lately I am having trouble with USB disks afterward.

Any ideas how to get rid of this. I have been through numerous BIOS settings and Windows settings. powercfg says only S3 state is supported (Hybrid Sleep). So, do I need to only do hybrid?

I have the latest BIOS.

DX79SI and usb 3.0 problems

After much diagnostic mucking I realize my portable drive problems are due to the USB 3.0 ports on this motherboard. It seems all the prior threads on DX79SI USB 3.0 problems die around the beginning of 2013 with no solution. I am having all the problems mentioned in previous posts, in particular:

1) boot hanging for 20 seconds on "58"

2) if I leave my WD Elements or Passport drive plugged in to USB 3.0 port (front or rear) when I reboot I get a yellow bang in Device manager for the USB 3.0 controller with the error message "device cannot start". Uninstalling the device and scanning for hardware changes fixes it.

If I use the USB 2.0 port....no problems at all just slower speed of course.

I have tried BIOS 525 (which says fixes the problem), 537 (just because I had it) and 594. No difference. I have the latest 2.1.28.1 Renesas drivers.

This problem has been around for years has anyone ever fixed it? (without buying a new USB 3.0 card!).

DX79SI, 3820 processor

Windows 7 Pro x64

WD drives are the only USB 3.0 devices.

Thanks,

Matt

D915PSY BIOS recovery

Hello, I have a friend's computer with motherboard D915PSY. After the unsuccessful BIOS flashing (from Windows) it doesn't work anymore.

I tried BIOS recovery according to the manual in Read Me (under the downloads here: Download Center), but it didn't work. I placed "CY0040P.BIO" file on the floppy disk, removed the BIOS Configuration Jumper, started the computer and the following occured...

1) Computer started to load something from the floppy drive

2) Single beep came out

3) Two beeps came out

4) Multiple beeps came out (about 4-5)

5) Computer turned off

After turning off I tried to replace the BIOS Configuration Jumper and start the computer again, but nothing changed.

Is anybody here able to tell me what am I doing wrong or where is the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very much

XP/Pro to Win7/Pro 64 Bit With New Drives - What Comes First?

$

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P (rev. 2.1) MOBO in a 6-year-old built to order machine that I'm upgrading from XP/Pro to Win7/Pro.

It has these specs.  Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz) Quad Core. The MOBO includes SATAII. It has the Intel P35 chipset in the North Bridge (2 GSATA ports) and Intel ICH9R in the South Bridge (6 SATAII ports. It has 8 GB of DDRII 800 memory.

My current configuration has XP and my program files on two 74 GB WD Raptor drives in RAID1 and two 500 GB WD Caviar Caviar SE16 drives also in RAID1.

The CMOS setting for SATA RAID/AHCI Mode is RAID. (Aside: Damn it would be useful to have a log file of all my current CMOS settings. I don't do this every day, and shutting down just so I can reboot and enter settings to check a setting and maybe document it with a digital photo is a PITA. Has anyone ever figured out how to gather this information into a log?)

I want to replace the Raptor drives with two 128 GB Crucial M550 SSD drives and install Win7 64bit in RAID1. I will keep my data drives in RAID1 during the process.

What I've read suggests that the order in which I do things could make my new installation relatively pain free or very complex.

I know that the RAID1 software I am using is here:

C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology

It was installed by the custom builder (GamePC/SolidElectric of Palo Alto, CA.) I don't find a CD for the software.

Will I need to download software from Intel that is Win7 64bit compatible? Will my 74-year-old brain be able to readily understand the options I might encounter during installation?

It is clear to me that I will also need a 64 bit driver. Which should I download?

Should all of this be available on a flash drive?

My current drive C: will be unavailable during the Windows installation process so I won't have access to the program I've been using. I doubt it would run under Win7 64bit anyway.

I would very much appreciate a straightforward explanation of the steps I should take to accomplish my goal. I’ve been very happy with the service that Rapid Storage Technology has given me.

I've asked for help on other forums and encountered replies like these. "Why would you want to do that?" "RAID1 is not a backup solution." They are not much help to me.

Thanks,

I am using a DQ87PG motherboard, BIOS version PGQ8710H.86A.0145.2014.0218.1509, CPU i7-4771, cooler Noctua NH-L12.

The Intel Desktop Utilities is reporting that the fan is running at around 297 rpm, however from time to time (I noticed when it is cold) I get pop-ups with the message:

[CPU (CPU Fan)] slowed or stopped. (0 RPM)

The fans did not stopped.

What can I do to disable these messages?

DQ87PG Bios Support broken?

$

I have a new DQ87PG-Mainboard and tried to make it fit for Windows 8.1. On the Intel-Support-Site I found 6 Bios - Version 30, 35, 36, 121, 139 and 141.

My mainboard came with v. 30. I installed Win 8 and upgraded dirct to Win 8.1 - the PC worked well. Then I found Bios 139 with 8.1 support. I tried to flash Version 139 with all three methods - without succes, each with the same "FWUpdateFullBuffer" - error message. So I started to flash each version step by step. My results:

V 35 flash without error

V 36 flash without error

V 121 error - Bios file is not for DQ87PG, but for DB85FL Board

V 139 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

V 141 error FwUpdateFullBuffer

I'ts not my first experience with flashing mainboard, but I never hat such a number of problems.

The V 121 is more the a month on the support site, I found in an other discussion here a hint about this, but nothing happens.

I'm sure to maked a mistake by flashing the board! My system is plain vanilla:

DQ87PG Mainboard

I5-4670 Cpu

2*8 GB Kingston Memory

1 Samsung 849 EVO SSD-Drive

1 Plextor DVD-Drive

and it is quite good, stable an powerful.

Event Viewer: irstrtsv error: Unable to read LBA sector via passthru

$

I have a DZ77GA-70k MB running Win7-64 and RST Raid-1.

I was troubleshooting another problem and I see this irstrtsv error in the Event Viewer.

"Error: Unable to read LBA sector via passthru. : The request is not supported."

<See attached screen shot of the Event Viewer>

The first 6 irstrtsv errors after system startup are:

"Error: Unable to read LBA sector directly. : The system cannot find the file specified."

Then the balance of the errors have the passthru reference.

My system has been running for over a year (since Jan2013) and this error started on Jan.10, 2014 of this year.

I do not see a performance issue due to the error and the problem I was troubleshooting deals with Windows Backup: VSS, SPP errors when the backup fails to complete.

This irstrtsv error occurs when the system starts, there is a cluster of 6 errors in a few seconds, then repeats every 5 minutes with another cluster of 6 irstrtsv errors and continues until I shut it down.

A couple of days ago I upgraded the RST to the latest driver 12.8.0.1016 and that did not solve the problem.

I don't remember changing the system BIOS or RST configuration or loading any application in January or in or around 1/10/2014.

Any thoughts.

Thanks,

Rod...

Does DX79SI support ECC Memory?

DP35DP and Q9650 BIOS incompatibility issue?

$

I have a DP35DP motherboard with 572 BIOS.  I just changed the CPU from Q6600 to Q9650 and now the CPU fan runs at full speed continuously and the system will not restart unless it is powered down and cold started.  Also, Window is not correctly recognizing the CPU.  It shows it as a Xeon III.  Otherwise it seems to run fine.

I have read here that many other people are having the same related issues.  It seems like a possible solution is to downgrade the BIOS.  I have tried a few things and it fails the downgrade.  I've tried the .BIO copied to a USB drive.  I remove the BIOS jumper, reboot and nothing happened.  Just a black screen.  I've also tried the .BIO copied to a CR-ROM.  I remove the BIOS jumper, reboot and nothing happened.  Just a black screen.  I've tried the .ISO bootable CD.  It started to flash the BIOS but then it failed and rebooted without downgrading.

Does anyone know the ultimate fix for this incompatibility issue?  If not, do you at least know how to get this BIOS downgraded?  Also, will a CMOS reset possibly fix the issue and allow 572 BIOS to work properly with Q9650?

Thank you.

Memory Issue for DZ87KLT-75K

There seems to be a problem with the XMP-3 memory setting when using 32 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz (CMY32GX3M4A2133C11). Using this setting, the system:

1.) Starts up for 2 seconds

2.) Powers off

3.) Starts up with no POST for 20 seconds then proceeds to boot-up normally

This happens when the memory is clocked to 2133MHz using the XMP-3 profile setting in the BIOS. Doing a soft-shutdown also results in the same sequence of events. However, reversing the memory setting to "Automatic" changes the memory speed to 1333MHz and the system returns to normal operation/start-up. Any clue why this is happening? Has anyone else observed similar problems using Corsair Vengeance Pro memory?

external eSATA doesn't work on DH67CL

Hi,

I recently converted my board to RAID configuration and installed four HDD's into RAID 5. I have another SSD outside the RAID for the OS. So all my internal SATA connections are occupied. I intended to use the external eSATA connection for an internal hard disk enclosure that is built into my case. It is possible because I have holes for cables (originally - water cooling system) in my case. But it doesn't work. I've tried another cable, and I verified that the enclosure work when i connected it to internal SATA. Is it possible that the board defective? Should I change configuration \ rewire something in the board to make it work?

thanks!

Although I've worked with computers for awhile, I'm new at the discussion forums.  My question is: I have a DG35EC board that works very well, but on the download site, the updates only go to Windows 7.   Are those updates suitable for Windows 8.1?  Board model is DG35EC, board version is AAE29266.205, BIOS version is EC3510M.86A.0118.2010.0113.1426, with a G35 Express Chipset, running an Intel Core2Duo CPU E7300 @ 2.66 GHz and 5.5 GB memory. Any help would be appreciated.

What to do about "Blocks with media errors"

$

0

I have a RAID5 with 4x 3TB WD RED drives, on a ASUS H87i-PLUS using the Intel RST RAID options

I recently encountered two power failures because of broken powerlines. After this event the RAID has been "Verified and Repaired" where it found 10 errors and repaired all 10 errors.

After this i now have 5320 Blocks with Media Errors

so my question is, what should i do about it ?

I've run Windows CheckDisk which came back empty handed - no errors..

I've now clicked on Verify again, with the option "Repair automatically" checked... (i remember doing that the last time too??)

thanksi
