During a "Verify and Repair" of a RAID5 on my ASUS H87i-PLUS i've noticed a lot of these warnings in my Event Viewer...

They are Warnings - so i'm wondering if i should be concerned ?

Some people say that such error is caused by LPM (Link Power Management) in the PCI-Express / SATA interface

And that the error / warning COULD result in performance degradation of SSD's and other devices.

I've tried disabling LPM through Windows Power Management and in Intel RST

I've also tried disabling LPM through Regedit using a couple of DWORDS....

but the warnings still appear...

The errors occured while Intel RST was verifying and about once pr minute in some cases - and are rare otherwise...

how to halt cleanly DH87MC mb desktop from Linux Debian sid

Hi

I have acquired 3 days ago a new desktop machine, with Intel CPU and motherboard (mb), viz., i7-4770 and DH87MC, respectively. My other hardware is: 1) a Samsung SSD with 256 GB, 2) a Seagate HD with 2 TB, 3) 2 x 8 GB Kingston RAM. My only operating system is a Debian Linux sid (unstable) distribution, which I installed right after the purchase, without enabling the UEFI boot, only the Legacy one.

I am facing the following problem: every time I try to shutdown the machine, either via the KDE main menu icon Shutdown, or via the root command "shutdown -h now", the machine turns off, but then, right after some 2 seconds, reboots, like a zombie! The only way I manage to turn it off definitively is by pulling off the Power button of the case during some seconds...

Is this a bug of the Visual Bios program of the board? Is this known? Some long time ago, I remember having similar problems with another board (don't remember the brand or the final solution). Is there a chance this might be solved by a BIOS upgrade? How should I do it, without Windows, just plain Linux?

Thanks for any directions!

DZ87KLT-75K Blu-Ray Drive Hard Hang

Okay, I've tried three different Blu-Ray drives now, from three different manufacturers, and for some reason, I'm getting a hard-hang in Windows when running certain tasks with a Blu-Ray drive attached to the discrete controller (gray connectors).  I don't have the same problem if I disconnect the drive, and I don't have the same problem when I move the drive to one of the Intel controller (blue) SATA connectors.  Unfortunately, I have six HDD/SDD and need each of the Intel/blue SATA connectors for drives, and want to resolve this very strange bug/issue. Could someone help me troubleshoot this?  This is the only lingering issue with my new build.

Some background:

1) Hard-hang causes the motherboard to completely ignore the reset NMI switch (super bad), and I have to hold down the power button to force an ATX power supply shutdown.  I don't like doing this when the operating system is up, but it's necessary.  I've let it sit for an hour, it does nothing.

2) Some of the things that can make the system hang are: trying to run utilities that scan for new devices, particularly hard drives, such as Windows Drive Management, Samsung Drive Magician (to manage my SSDs), and even installing and uninstalling some Intel drivers.

3) I've gone through three different drives (Sony, Asus and now Pioneer), choosing the highest rated drives I could find.  Three manufacturers, same issue.  I don't think it's the drives' fault.

4) Back when I was first having this hard-hang issue, I wasn't sure what the problem was and kept having the issue.  It caused my registry to become seriously corrupted, and made me waste an entire weekend trying to troubleshoot a weird driver issue.

So, I want to resolve this issue as soon as possible, and I'm not sure what I can do to fix things. Anyone?  It sounds like the discrete controller is giving me issues, but I don't see where there are any controller drivers to be loaded as they are included in the operating system.

XFX R9 280x and DP67BG: any hope?

Hello everyone,

I have running two graphics cards, Nvidia GTX460 and AMD HD6850 on Windows 7 sp1. I use the 460 for my monitor, and the 6850 for a little mining. Both work fine together. I recently purchased an XFX R9 280x, however, I can't seem to get it to work. After I install, along with the GTX460, it's recognized by device manager, but it does not show up in the video resolution dialog window. GPUz identifies the 280x, but clockspeed and voltage don't show. Also, when installed as the only card, it shows the boot screen, but after post, the screen goes dark, with a lonely 0_ showing in the lower right. The code on the board shows 00. The computer continues to load windows, but the monitor remains the same. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers ad infinitum using Ccleaner and DDU, updated the BIOS, cleared the CMOS, and tried different PCIe slots. I even did a clean windows install. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

I just bought an ASUS r9 280X GPU but facing some problem

When I first boot the system I get the intel splash screen. If I leave the system alone, it goes to a BLACK SCREEN (Not Blank Screen) with a 0_ in the bottom right hand corner . On the actual motherboard, I get 00 on the LED display.

rI have tried to do is Boot to a Bootable USB and/or Bootable DVD

I simply select the USB or DVD. What happens? As soon as I press the enter key on my keyboard, a little 0 pops up in the bottom right hand corner of the monitor. The system does not even attempt to process my command to boot to the media. It's like it is predetermined that it will not boot no matter what I do.

I was told that 00 on the LED means the board is in normal boot state and that there may be a problem with the board. I have no other tricks up my sleeve when it comes to making this board boot. I have removed all unnecessary devices and tried the most basic boot to no luck.

Processor -i7 2600k

Motherboard - DZ68ZV

Motherboard DQ67OW fails to wake up from hibernate

Hi everybody. I've got a problem with a DQ67OW motherboard. Because I have to use it in an automatic system, where the PC has to wake up from hibernation, has to start a program and stop it, I need to use a HIBERNATION function. The problem appears in this way: I put the PC in hibernation from Win7 using the power supply button (or in final version with a program WakeUpOnstandby); then I unplug the power supply. After some time I reconnect the power supply and start the PC with power button. At this point a LOT OF TIMES appaire a text like this:

"The firmware of the sistem can't conserve the map of memory of the system during the transition from the state of hibernation.....Verify if it is available an upgrade of the firmware from the system propietary because this could be solved the issue" (in Italian).

Then:

"impossible to stop the state of hibernation of the computer

state 0xC0000411

Informations: error during elaboration of data

file: \ hiberfill.sys"

Because I tried on time to format all the HDD (an SSD) an install the OS from the Clean Installation, with just the Intel drivers installed and the drivers of video board (nvidia Geforce 210) without any kind of positive results, I asked someone a risolutive help.

I've got an Intel Desktop motherboard, DH87RL.   I updated to the latest BIOS (0234) today, my system BIOS was 0230.   I'm running Windows 7.

Checking the Device Manager (by connection) all my USB 2 devices (mouse, keyboard and joystick) are connected under the Intel USB 3.0 Root Hub.   This wasn't the case a few weeks ago when I last checked.   Should this be the case?   What needs to be changed to correct it.   The keyboard, mouse and joystick do function.   Following is my an image of my Device Manager.

Any help appreciated.

XP/Pro to Win7/Pro 64 Bit With New Drives - What Comes First?

$

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P (rev. 2.1) MOBO in a 6-year-old built to order machine that I'm upgrading from XP/Pro to Win7/Pro.

It has these specs.  Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.4 GHz) Quad Core. The MOBO includes SATAII. It has the Intel P35 chipset in the North Bridge (2 GSATA ports) and Intel ICH9R in the South Bridge (6 SATAII ports. It has 8 GB of DDRII 800 memory.

My current configuration has XP and my program files on two 74 GB WD Raptor drives in RAID1 and two 500 GB WD Caviar Caviar SE16 drives also in RAID1.

The CMOS setting for SATA RAID/AHCI Mode is RAID. (Aside: Damn it would be useful to have a log file of all my current CMOS settings. I don't do this every day, and shutting down just so I can reboot and enter settings to check a setting and maybe document it with a digital photo is a PITA. Has anyone ever figured out how to gather this information into a log?)

I want to replace the Raptor drives with two 128 GB Crucial M550 SSD drives and install Win7 64bit in RAID1. I will keep my data drives in RAID1 during the process.

What I've read suggests that the order in which I do things could make my new installation relatively pain free or very complex.

I know that the RAID1 software I am using is here:

C:\Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology

It was installed by the custom builder (GamePC/SolidElectric of Palo Alto, CA.) I don't find a CD for the software.

Will I need to download software from Intel that is Win7 64bit compatible? Will my 74-year-old brain be able to readily understand the options I might encounter during installation?

It is clear to me that I will also need a 64 bit driver. Which should I download?

Should all of this be available on a flash drive?

My current drive C: will be unavailable during the Windows installation process so I won't have access to the program I've been using. I doubt it would run under Win7 64bit anyway.

I would very much appreciate a straightforward explanation of the steps I should take to accomplish my goal. I’ve been very happy with the service that Rapid Storage Technology has given me.

I've asked for help on other forums and encountered replies like these. "Why would you want to do that?" "RAID1 is not a backup solution." They are not much help to me.

Thanks,

Problem with HDMI audio using intel hd 4600 graphics

Hello,

I've got a huge problem regarding my hdmi audio in my intel dq87pg board. The setup is the following:

HTPC  -> Displayport to HDMI Adapter -> Onkyo AV Receiver -> TV

OS is Windows 8.1, Graphic drivers etc. are the latest.

if the TV and the AV Receiver is on when I start the HTPC, everything works fine. But if it is switched off while booting, the computer does not find any hdmi audio device when the receiver is turned on later. The same happens when av receiver is on during boot and the sound works and I restart the AV reveiver or replug the cable in between.

I've tried nearly everything, different drivers, reinstall windows etc, but nothing helps. Does anyone have a solution?

Many regards

Florian

D945GNCL M/Board Corrupt System Date/Time

Having just replaced a faulty PSU on a generic desktop with the Intel D945GCNL M/B, machine starts up with various alerts about battery backup failing & system date/time not being set, followed by successful loading of WinXP but with corrupt system date/time. The date year appears as something like 16014 and correcting it is never carried over on restart, even when not removing the power & having changed the CMOS battery. Checking in the BIOS (latest NL94510J.86A ver. 0036) shows the labels at the bottom of the first page for the date & time but there are no fields to alter. Have flashed BIOS back to a previous version (0033), then back to latest but cannot get date/time fields to display.

Anyone else had similar experience & can offer any advice?

BIOS Upgrade Failure -- What now?

$

Today I upgraded the BIOS of a DH67CF motherboard.  The upgrade was successful (at least that's what the messages on the screen said), but after the system rebooted the system became unusable.

Prior BIOS Version: BLH6710H.86A.0105.2011.0301.1654

New BIOS Version: BLH6710H.86A.0156.2012.0615.1908

Upgrade Method: F7 at POST using BIOS upgrade method from USB stick.

Symptoms after upgrade:

- No video signal detected

- No beeping from PC speaker

- Fans spin up

- HDDs spin up

Steps Attempted:

- Disconnected CMOS battery for 20 minutes -- no change.

- Removed BIOS jumper to attempt recovery -- no change (USB stick with .BIO was never accessed, and no video signal detected)

- Re-connected BIOS jumper -- no change.

At this point it seems that my motherboard has been bricked, and various searches indicate that this has happened with prior BIOS revisions.  Is 156 another bad version?  Maybe the fact that I was jumping from 105 -> 156 could be the problem, but I didn't see any intermediate BIOS version upgrade recommendation.

Any help/advice/suggestions is/are appreciated.

Why is there no HDMI video displayed when booting DH87MC?

System consists of: i5-4670, SSD series 530 systems disc, G.Skill memory F3-12800 CL9D-8GBXL, Seasonic X-650, Centrino Advanced=N6205 wireless adaptor, Visual Bios in Legacy mode and WIN7 HE.

On first boot into setup with a newly built system using HDMI, power light comes on, all fans spin, Intel Inside tone plays but no video display on ASUS VE 228H monitor with Mediabridge Ultra cable. Tried with ASUS VS 238H monitor and different Mediabridge Ultra cable and got the same result. After a number of unsuccessful attempts, I returned the board for a replacement.

The first boot into setup with the replacement board was a repeat of what was experienced with the old board. Being a little smarter, the next attempt to boot was with DVI. Video worked perfectly. O/S and all updates loaded, all Intel drivers and BIOS updates through 054 loaded. Now, with updated system, when I boot with HDMI cable there is no video until WIN7 starts.

I would appreciate any feedback that helps me correct this issue. Peter

DH87MC cold boot issue

We have an Intel DH87MC based system that fails to POST if the power is disconnected from the mainboard for any reason.  While power is continuously connected, the system starts, restarts etc. normally.  If the power is disconnected, when you reconnect the power and press the 'power' button, the system fan starts and continues to run, the hard drive makes noise for about 2 secs, but there is no POST and no display.  If you momentarily disconnect the power again and reconnect (or hold the power button for 5 secs to cut power to the mainboard) the system then starts again and there is a screen advising that the BIOS failed to POST on previous attempt.  We 'cancel' to continue and the system boots into Windows just fine.  We had this problem with the BIOS that came preloaded on the board and updated to the latest (version 47) as suggested by Intel Australia channel support, but we still have the problem.  We've also tried different speed RAM, with and without PCI graphics card, new BIOS battery etc.  We just can't deliver a computer to a customer and tell them that they have to perform certain tricks to get it going if it ever loses power to the mainboard.  And seeing as the customer has to take it home to his home and set it up on his desk, then he will certainly have to perform those tricks the first time he tries to start it.  I'm hoping somebody has an answer because we won't get paid until the customer gets his working computer.DH87

I have a DZ77SL-50K with a Core i5 3570K that has Intel HD Graphics 4000. The problem I have is that there is no video in the beginning of the boot process. I had to borrow a graphics card from an other machine to be able to access the BIOS settings and install the OS. Now the video turns on after the OS has been loaded. But I can't access BIOS settings or OS selection.

Need help with DX79TO POST issue

Hey guys, I'm having a huge problem trying to get past POST on my machine.  I'm basically seeing two scenarios:

     -  In one, it lands on POST code 33 and just hangs for like 5-10 minutes before doing a hard reboot

     - In the second, more common one, it cycles through a few codes, lands on 21 for about 30 seconds, then continues through b0, b1, b2, b7 then does a hard reboot

In neither case does the video ever come up - I'm reading these off the LED display on the board itself.  At this point I've removed the audio and video cards, removed all but one RAM stick, and unplugged power for the HDDs and blue ray drive.

Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? dx79

DQ35MP BIOS update problem and virtualization

Hello guys,

Just upgraded my processor to be able to use visualization on my desktop, but the option is not present on the BIOS sittings. The way to go is to update the bios to the latest version, but it just WON'T!

As you can see on the attach, the latest version is already installed but apparently just half of it (I just got it from a friend that wasn't using it anymore)

I'm using Linux so the usual windows exe is not an option.

Despite my greatest efforts, I could not made a bootable USB with the iso file or a bootable FreeDOS usb to use the universal installer. Boot fails every time.

This is the most promising method, but Recovery simple won't power up the usb stick.

F7 during boot works but update fails on the ME firmware (as shown on attach). ME is apparently not installed at all (version 0.0.0.0 on bios).

I really don't know what else I may try, followed every guide I found on the web and still I'm not able to update my bios.

Anyone with a great idea?!?!?!
