TSC calibration error (Linux, DX79SR + 3930K i7 )

$

I have an linux box (Red Hat 7) that doesn't quite work.  On boot, I get a error stating that "Fast TSC calibration failed."  According to google this seems like a common and harmless error, but it locks up my machine and the bootup doesn't complete.

Is there a way to test my hardware (CPU, motherboard, ram) to see if my hardware is faulty?  I've just upgraded the bios in the DX79SR to be the most recent version available, and it seems functional.

The DX79SR has lots of overcloacking features that I'm not interested in using.  Could an errant BIOS switch choice be the sort of this problem?

Any suggestions appreciated,

Nathan

Right Click on Desktop causes Delay because of igfxsrvc.exe

Hello,

the process igfxsrvc.exe is apparently part of the Intel Common User Interface and in use/started when I perform a right click on the desktop which causes an annoying delay of about 2 seconds while opening the context menu.

What is that process for?

Can I disable it or is there another way to avoid the delay?

Proxmox VE 4.1 won't boot on 2 Intel Boards

Hi, I'm new here and need some help with what I'd call a rather bizarre situation. I have two older, but still very functional Intel based systems that I use for some development/tinkering/educational activities 1. Intel BX97520J and 2. Intel DPP3510J, both with the most current BIOS update. Anyway, I have tried to run Proxmox VE on each of these boards but cannot get the systems to boot, yet the Proxmox OS installs just fine, but neither will ever boot to the OS, I just get "No bootable device -- Please insert boot disk and press any key" what gives? However, since I have tried multiple installs on multiple devices (regular SATA disk, SSD, and USB stick) on pretty much every port on each of these boards, but cannot get past the Bootable device error, I am convinced this is some sort of Intelism, here's why: I can, and have, taken each of these drives...especially the SSD and the USB stick, and plugged them into other systems (Dell T3500, M4400, M70, ASUS P5N) where they boot and run without any hoops to jump through, but when I plug them into the Intel Boards "No bootable device -- Please insert boot disk and press any key". As I have mentioned earlier, these systems have the most current available BIOS, and all the appropriate settings in the BIOS to ensure the systems will boot to these drives, but No Luck. Also, each of these systems is currently running as a VMware ESXi lab machine, so there's no problem with either of the boards. So, I'd like to know if this is just some sort of incompatibility that I won't get past before I WASTE anymore time on these systems, or what special magic needs to happen to make each/either of these work. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, I have recently purchased an intel DZ77GA-70K motherboard. I noticed that the motherboard contains an 8 pin CPU power connector, my 750W EVGA power supply only has dual 2x2 4 pin power cables. I was wondering since one 4 pin fits and locks into the middle of the 2x4 is this enough to power the motherboard / can i do this?

Intel dz68bc not displaying

Hi,

I recently updated the bios on my dz68bc board from 0028 (i think) to 0042 (the most recent suggested bios). After a couple hours I managed to make it work but it would only work with 1 ram stick plugged. After searching the forums, I found out that downgrading to 0035 would allow me to use both my ram sticks, so I did. Everything worked for a couple hours but the day after, the computer started beeping twice, waiting 2.5 secs, then beeping twice again. It would also not display anything on the monitor. I've tried unplugging, removing the battery, waiting, removing the bios jumper and restarting it with a usb stick containing the recovery bios, but it did not work. Now I don't know what to do any more, At this point, my computer does 2 things, if I have no usb sticks in it, the post keeps looping back to 13 (still no display on the monitor). If the usb stick is in, it goes to 13, then Eb, then Ea, then 77 and stays there. I can't find anything about the port 80h code 77, so I'm very lost. I don't know if the bios can be flashed without display. I've tried waiting with the recovery usb but even after 10 mins, it still shows 77. What am I supposed to do now?

DH77KC recognize internal SATA devices as USB SATA devices

Hi all,

I'm using a desktop with DH77KC.

Recently, I found out that when I press F10 to select boot devices, all my internal SATA HDD is shown as USB SATA.

Although I still able to boot from every HDD, but showing like that is hard for me to know which HDD I need to boot from.]

Moreover, when I look for that in BIOS (by pressing F2), everything seems normal.

Can someone help me?

Issues with my intel products and intels Identification utilities

Hello.

I run a now old DX58SO and a C0 core i7 920, I had the 5599 bios for years and only recently(this week)updated to bios 5600 after i upgraded from vista<win 7<win 10

I started my night thinking i'll download the intel desktop utlities but for some reason the intel website said it wasn't available, then it brought me to a page that had me download "Intel Detection" which detected everything properly including the bios version, cpu, ram,HDD,everything, everything except the actual motherboard.... i'm not even sure why it brought me to this page and had me download "intel Detection.exe" because even after using the executable and getting what information it scanned, it provided me with no downloads or links to downloads for any drivers, bios or utilities, so i'm wondering what's the point of this "Intel Detection.exe" it didnt get the information it was supposed to even with an intel motherboard and it served zero purpose for the correct information it did gather.

I'm just looking for the program that monitors voltages temps etc and has overclocking options.

any help is appreciated thanks

Hello,

I own DX58SO, with Intel Core i7 920@2.67Ghz, with 3x2GB DD3 PC3-10700(667MHz).

I want to update to maximum RAM configuration and i wanted to ask exactly what kind of kit should i buy. I have heard something about 4x4GB @ 1600 or even 4x8GB.

So, what would it be the most reliabe and fast configuration i should go with?

Thank you.

Hi, i have a motherboard d946gzis, Core 2 duo and 4gb of RAM.

I`m doing a clean install of Windows 10 x64 but it hangs on the windows logo and nothing happens.

I tried with a x86 version and it did boot up.

I disabled the AHCI controller, tried with 2gb of RAM, latest version of the BIOS, USB install, DVD drive through USB, unplugged any other peripheral.

It was workin fine with Windows 8 x64

How do we add to the official processor list for a motherboard? DZ68BC

Is there a way to get the Xeon E3-1280 V2 processor supported for the DZ68BC motherboard? I notice that both the E3-1275 V2 & the E3-1290 V2 are supported so I'm hoping that adding the 1280 is an easy addition to the BIOS for people who know about this kind of thing.

Right now, the system hangs at bootup, powers off, powers back on, hangs...and the cycle repeats.  One time I saw a message about the processor not being supported and that the message wouldn't be displayed again.  Using the Back to BIOS button and/or clearing the BIOS doesn't make a difference.

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide.

DZ87KLT BIOS has detected unsuccessful POST attempt(s)

System gets message on startup after powering up

"BIOS has detected unsuccessful POST attempt(s)..."

and offers a choice of entering BIOS or retrying boot with existing settings. Neither works, and BIOS cannot be entered. After the initial splash screen, and typing F2, the above message repeats.

Up to now, the system has been operating without problems for more than a year.

After sitting for several hours, the system booted normally. Now, following subsequent shutdown, the message has reappeared. There have been no hardware changes or BIOS changes. When the system is in the failing state described above, the internal motherboard 7-segment display stops on "00 92", after running through several other values.

DZ87-KLT motherboard with BIOS KLZ8711D.86A.0453.2014.1007.1848

1) How can I find out the cause of this error? The Tech Spec says 0x92 means "Detecting the presence of the keyboard". After the "BIOS has detected unsuccessful POST attempt(s)..." message, typing Y or N on the keyboard is sensed, as it causes another iteration of the message after some re-initialization.

2) How can I fix the cause, so this error does not occur?
