Wake-on-LAN different with DZ68BC and DH67CL

I know there is no warranty on motherboards.

I looked through the BIOS of PC1 (DZ68BC 0028 BIOS, i5-2500K, 730 SSD) and saw that Wake-on-LAN was set to "Power on - Normal boot." The other relevant settings -- "Deep S4/S5" and "Wake system from S5" -- were disabled by default. I disabled Wake-on-LAN because it's not one of my use cases. I also disabled Wake-on-LAN on PC2 (DH67CL 0160 BIOS, i5-2500K, Samsung SSD).

Soon thereafter PC1 sometimes refused to start by pressing the power switch. I had to press and hold the power switch to start it. So I went back and re-enabled Wake-on-LAN. So far I have not seen the power switch strangeness again. However, PC2 does not have the strangeness.

DH67CL BIOS release notes has an entry in 0132 BIOS ("Fixed issue with monitor sleep states") and an entry in 0151 BIOS ("Fixed issue where the monitor will not remain in sleep state after waking from S3"), which could explain why PC2 has no Wake-on-LAN strangeness.

To my questions:

- The Intel page Configuring Wake-On LAN for Intel® Desktop Boards explains that Wake-on-LAN is only useful for remote management, e.g. AMT. Is the above DZ68BC behavior a bug or am I missing something?

- The BIOS explanation for "Deep S4/S5" is: "If enabled, system will use less power while in S4/S5 sleep states, but will wake from S4/S5 only via power button or RTC alarm." Does this mean that pressing the keyboard would no longer wake the system if "Deep S4/S5" is enabled?

- DZ68BC BIOS release notes has an entry in 0036 BIOS ("Fix issue with Wake up system from S5 setting" happened") and an entry in 0035 BIOS ("Fixed issue where monitor will not remain in sleep state after wake from S3"). Is there any way to know if either of these would fix my issue?

UPDATE: Since no one answered, I thought I'd roll the dice. I reverted the BIOS settings to default and then used Express BIOS to move to 0035, 0036, 0037, 0039, and then 0042, doing each one in order as Intel personnel have often recommended. 0037 took so long I thought the board was bricked. 0042 added a message about the Marvell controller having no virtual disk even though I have the Marvell type set to AHCI and always have because I do not use it. Then I disabled Wake-on-LAN and shut it down. Now, power-on is even worse, as I have to hold the power switch in for about five seconds to start it.

Right Click on Desktop causes Delay because of igfxsrvc.exe

Hello,

the process igfxsrvc.exe is apparently part of the Intel Common User Interface and in use/started when I perform a right click on the desktop which causes an annoying delay of about 2 seconds while opening the context menu.

What is that process for?

Can I disable it or is there another way to avoid the delay?

Intel uses double-sided tape under chipset heat sinks. Is that tape available on the open market? Is all of that tape pretty much the same?

I ask because I am working on a system where the heat sink was removed (don't ask). I tried thermal compound, but the temperatures were maybe ten degrees higher than on a comparable system. I saw similar stuff for sale at Newegg and Amazon Marketplace.

Intel DZ77GA-70K Bricked by BIOS express BIOS update, what's a good substitute?

Hello everyone!

So I got a new graphics card for my gaming PC, it's a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SSC GAMING ACX 3.0. I should have worked fine with my board but it just didn't. So after checking forums, I decided to try to update the BIOS using the express utility from the intel website. It bricked my motherboard, I tried the BIOS restore to no avail. This is the second board that has been bricked by the BIOS update, I just don't want to buy a new processor when the one I have is perfectly fine and was (and IS) very expensive.

What's a good replacement motherboard that will work with:

-Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz 8 MB Cache LGA 1155 - BX80637I73770K

-EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SSC GAMING ACX 3.0, Pci express 3.0

-32 GB DDR3

Also, if someone has any idea how to unbrick it and make it work with the GTX 1060....

Intel DH67BL Usb Problem (Overload?)

Hi fellow Intel users.

I've had this board for about 3 years now and it has been good to me with one major exception.

The problem is that when I try to connect another usb device, it won't work, however if I disconnect an existing one the port I recently added a connection to will start to work.

It only became a real problem recently as I suddenly have many USB devices I need to use at the same time.

I have the following usb devices currently connected and working:

1) TP Link Internet Usb Adapter

2) Focusrite Saffire 6 Audio Interface

3) Logitech Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

and when I try to add, for example, my Numark Mixtrack Pro 3 it does not work unless I disconnect any of the above items and vice versa.

Any advice, solutions or workarounds are greatly appreciated.

Intel DZ77SL-50K Refuses to Display Video After I Tweaked the BIOS, Even After Attempts to Reset BIOS Multiple Times?

Everything is plugged in and everything was working this morning for Windows 10 - I was using it for a few days.  I noticed that I had to press the power button twice to start it off, though.  This is a minor annoyance, so I tried to set the BIOS to allow it to not hang at startup with the Intel logo sitting there, doing nothing.  So I turned off Legacy Boot and USB Boot options in the VisualBIOS.  Well, unfortunately, after I tried to boot again, no video at all was displayed, and multiple CMOS and jumper-connector resets have done me no good.  Did I fry the board, or is it just Intel boards that experience these problems?  I notice a lot of other forum posts online with similar questions, but they are not resolved.  Help?

GIGABYTE Z170-D3H with i7 6700k and EVGA 980Ti runs in 8xPCIE 3.0 only under load.

Hello,

Firstly.

1) I have single GPU.

2) I using right first PCIE 3.0 16x slot on my board.

3) I have latest bios F20 and running in default setting.

My board and gpu supports 16xPCIE 3.0 but i cant find solution how to run my system like that. Under GPUZ render test and CPUZ information tab my system use only PCIE 3.0 with 8x lines.... And it is not maximum 16x lines.

Only idea what can I do is unpluged my graphics card and try it in another system with 3.0 PCIE spec, if the behavior will be same ( faulty my GPU ) or not ( faulty my motherboard )....

Iam really bored with it.

Thx for any advice and help.

Where to obtain I/O shield for DX79TO motherboard

Hi,

I recently purchased a second-hand DX79TO motherboard (and i7-3820 processor) but I am missing an I/O shield. How would I go about receiving a replacement I/O shield for this motherboard? Thank you!

DX79TO won't start with Samsung 950 Pro connected to PCI-E X16 using SilverStone PCI-E X4 to M.2 adapter

Config:

DX79TO

i7 3930k

GTX 1080 in primary PCI-E x16 (motherboard shows as Slot 6)

That works on its own.

When I insert Samsung 950 Pro with an adapter into second PCI-E x16 slot, BIOS fails to initialize:

- displays just a blinking cursor

- motherboard display shows number 64 (or b4)

- 3rd (of 6) leds (which I guess is video init) is blinking, rest are constantly lit

What I've tried so far (had to perform with SSD disconnected to access Setup):

- update to the latest BIOS (from 2014)

- enable/disable video fastboot

- in BIOS config for video change Auto to Manual and select the slot where the graphics card is actually installed (I hoped it would help MB to go past video init)

Neither had any effect

I've read on the Internet people had some success with this MB and PCI-E SSDs. Am I doing something wrong?

I only have an even older PC which I will try tomorrow just in case with that SSD.

USB 2.0 Headers Not Working - ASRock Z97 Fatal1ty Killer

System Specs:

MB: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer

CPU: Intel i7 4790K

GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 960

RAM: 16gb Gskill DDR3 1866

SSD x 2

750W power supply

DVD optical drive

Card reader

USB 2.0 headers on my Mobo are no longer working (two total). I recently installed an Intel AC-7260 wireless card with bluetooth (requires header for bluetooth functionality), worked fine. Installed a card reader (required a header as well, in addition to the ports on the front- so I bought the NZXT IU01 USB expansion, worked like a charm). I noticed BT no longer working. USB Card Reader no longer working. Seems to have power, my portable HDD indicator light flashes briefly when plugged in and is spinning.

Summary:

- USB 2.0 headers not working.

- USB 2.0 ports on the rear work fine.

- USB 3.0 ports all work fine.

- Tried both devices on both headers, nothing.

- Tried updating and rolling back intel chipset drivers, nothing.

I'm baffled as to what I should do next. I'm no computer genius, but I know my way around my computer. Numerous searches reveal nothing useful. I tried to retrace my steps, and the only thing I can think is I had to rearrange the power connections inside my case so everything would reach when I installed the DVD drive, but the USB 2.0 headers are powered by the main MB 24 pin power connector, correct? Anything I am missing here? I assume it's a driver issue (as there is power to the headers)?

How can I get the Integrator Toolkit for DQ67SW?

I have just replaced my motherboard with a DQ67SW and the BIOS was changed with a company splash. I would like to change it back to the original Intel splash. On checking the BIOS it tells me that the BIOS was changed using the Intel Integrator Toolkit.

I see upon searching the internet lots of websites say they have it but I am suspicious of these sites and would like to get a copy from Intel.

Thanks.

DH67BL/DH67CL ME driver for Sandy Bridge

This involves W-7 64-bit, i5-2500K, and DH67 boards. If I accept the ME driver on the CD-ROM and allow Windows Update to find the latest one, it ends up at 7.0.0.1118, regardless of whether the BIOS is Sandy-only (0132 and before) or Sandy/Ivy (post-0132). But the only ME driver available at Intel Downloads is 8.1.0.1248, which is for both Sandy and Ivy. Why aren't Intel and Windows Update in sync? Why doesn't Intel still offer 7.0.0.1118?

Microsoft Update belches out an unknown driver

Microsoft Update released an alleged Intel driver. I have it waiting on 6-series boards running W-7. The driver is "INTEL – System – 8/19/2016 12:00:00 AM – 10.1.2.80" but the associated webpage explains nothing. The Microsoft Update Catalog page suggests it's Atom and/or USB related, the former of which is spurious for me. I'm not going to accept it, but I wanted to know if anyone here had any ideas.

having two desktop dn2800mt and d525MW boards I am asking myself a question "how to get a better performance"

Dear All,

The rapid , the most rapid Linux solution for the boars turned out to use Lubuntu if not MicrosoftXP.

But I can see there emerged ClearLinux OS. Would it make sense installing it ?

I am still researching an option to get two boards somehow connected using graphical resources. Or other  high speed> 1GB per second link establish options.

Have anyone benefited somehow from clustering that sort of boards yet?

What OS do you use with that sort of boards?

Sincerely,

Andrey

Any information about BIOS password for DQ77MK boards?

$
0
0

I am assigned the task of changing the BIOS password of a DQ77MK board from Windows. Is there anyway to achieve that? I will also appreciate any information about where the password is stored (CMOS, TPM, NVRAM, EEPROM?), what hashing algorithm is used, and whether it can be read or altered after the BIOS firmware loads the operating system. If it's not possible, can someone explain why, or hopefully link me to an official document by Intel?

If this is any relevant, the BIOS/UEFI firmware vendor is also Intel.

I appreciate all relevant information, even if it doesn't completely solve my problem, which is again, changing the BIOS password for the said motherboard from Windows. Suggested solutions that involve programming are also welcome.

Thanks.
